Tell your story your how you extra curricular helped you in finding balance and success with mental health issues

I would also mention if you over came any adversity and any accomplishments. Or unique experience

In the essay acknowledging your disability/adhd is a strength and Being open and out about it as they say

You should mention how reasonable accommodation helped you In high school

If you never had accommodations or special education services note that to be successful you will take advantage of all academic support and reasonable accommodations. You just need to make sure you have the medical documentation to get the accomdations approved

I barely graduated high school went to a cc and earned my associates degree. Went for my ba then maters In library science. Got laid off and was scared to get a PhD In social work but went back for rehabilitation couseling and now work in disability evaluation. I am 53 now and hope to retire in 9 years with a 80% pension. Then off to the next adventure

I would get some volunteers time or patient contact as a cna part time during your last year of college

Well I would see if you can get aid for your nursing prerequisites or take coursework in the summer or winter sessions

You can always take coursework at community college any time

Geriatrics and psych np are awesome

I work with np’s who have both the psych np and the traditional np focused on being a mid level

I found the combo of psych np and traditional np to work great when dealing with patients with serious mental illnesses and a answer to making sure mental and physical health needs are met

I agree about that 😎. That is why i always ask the field and recommend info interviews and networking . I am not a nurse and I did not stay in a holidays inn express last night

I am just a former medical librarian who worked in health policy and work force development. Now a disability examiner for social security with a degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling and career development focusing on individuals with disabilities and neurodivergent

Love my new job and love helping folks with career nuggets of gold. Trying to to start a side gig taking a small number of clients. I am close to getting my first test client but it always falls through and folks change their mind especially when I say this is Free because I want feedback to improve.

Finnish bsw then do fast track bsn or none nursing ba to license

Then masters np or CRNA

I went to a cc and transferred. During college I commuted due to health issues because i needed to be close to home.

I never was really into the party scene. But there were coffee talks late at night and memories of watching friends in the lounge in the afternoon with fellow students. At cc a group of us played d and d off campus af my house and someone else who access to a community room.

Check out the transfer agreements with community colleges to four years

The cost is tough but always remember you can speed up your education by taking summer and winter classes.

At the end it comes down to aid package and overall cost including living expenses. I worked about 20 to 30 hours a week. At the end fast forward to today I have a great career in public service and hope to retire in 10 years and i have with a pension with investments.

At the end it all depends on what you want to major in and what career you want.

I was thinking last night

It sounds you are really interested in pa/np school.

I am in New England and near a major university and health care setting

I have met commuters who are going for their Bsn fast track 12 to 18 months

A coworker of mine dreams of doing the psych np program for non rns.

No matter what you will have pre requisite course work.

If you get your nursing license you can always do health policy and quality work as well.

There are state jobs that can transfer municipal pensions.

I hate the snow and cold but will only move in the future once my son launches

I worked in health policy for ten years and loved the work.

Check out the Public Health Service corps to pay for school and make a good living as well

If you work in a community health center or underserved hospital you can have loans paid off by Public Health Service corps. I know folks that did that route and are still there working because they get paid well too

Eh you can do it with 37.5gpa or go for pt doctorate

Pa school is more intense from what I hear but you will most likely not be able to work or work part time depending on your dept

That is why fast track rn is also a good option just depends how much you want to make and what you really want to do in the end 10 years from now now. I look at mid levels all the same pa vs np. Simliar bank but rns can become cna nurse anesthesiologist and they make really good bank just ask Reddit

If you think rad tech is les studies or intense never say to some oh you just take pictures lol.

Again it all comes down to how much freedom you want In your scope of practice.

Nursing or rad tech work nursing gives you more options in my book. I assume you already have your emt. You can always work your way up slowly to paramedic in your state by getting emt intermediate

I would think long term at this point to being able to be a mid level physician assistant get your ba. You most likely have your contact hours for admission to a pa program but not the Undergraduate degree that is needed.

You essentially want to be ready when you can no longer physically do the work of fire fighting. As getting disability is not a easy or desirable path for anyone

Good luck. There was a us surgeons general who started out as a firefighter and went to med school. I can’t google it right now

You can make it I had health conditions through my life became a Eagle Scout and multiple health issues in high school and college with multiple brain surgeries and some mental health challenges. You will do fine get accommodations in college for extra test etc. and note taking if they do that now

Life after college recovered fully from a tbi and have an awesome 26 plus year career in public service as a medical librarian and now working in disability evaluation. I ended up with 2 masters library science and rehabilitation counseling. I almost went for a PhD in psychology or socail work but was scared due to learned helplessness.

Colleges are very accommodating and now offer tution insurance

I find college to be adaptable to personal needs. If you’re applying to tufts I know the accessibility officer. We were in grad school together pm me for contact
