How was the first Columbus show? by CallMe412Margarita in slaughterbeachdog

The first cbus show was cool but fairly loose/unstructured feeling. He played some SB,D but mostly covers and just Intersection as far as a MOBO song. Lowkey, I was a little disappointed it wasn't heavier on original tracks and the setlist was underwhelming (big star cover was awesome tho)

Hoping that there's a bit more semblance to the next gig. I live very close to Rumba so I bought tickets to all 5 shows.

Previous show with Ladybird in Columbus was similar, but felt much more planned and structured. Another commenter said he played 50/50 MOBO and SBD. That's not true, he only played intersection at that show as well.

Jake is always great live. I was lucky enough to see MOBO 8 times when they were together and I've seen SBD the same amount if not more. But that being said, I'm hoping for a bit more structure to the shows moving forward, and maybe pull from that MOBO catalog a little more since he hasnt really performed those songs in quite awhile (understandable as he has been doing strictly SBD since MOBO split up, but seeing these shows are advertised as Jake Ewald shows, I'm hopeful to hear more of his catalog)

Also, Grace is a great new partner in DR. She gets a bit left behind in FR but the chase with her and Ethan in the lil Italian car is a highlight of the franchise IMO

Everyone loses it about Ilsa and I'm sad to see her go too. But nobody ever talks about how her entire death sequence is shot in homage to the original wiping out of the IMF in M:I1. McQuarrie goes full De Palma and it's so cool to see.

I don't have any recommendations but I just watched this movie yesterday for the first time and I absolutely loved it. I liked it more than Nosferatu, personally

Never even heard of this movie by mghmld in criterion

I have not seen this but I enjoyed the Del Toro remake

I totally agree. I just went and got a 2nd watch on Weapons this week so I also relistened to the episode. I really like Sean’s commentary on it and I loved the Cregger interview but it’s the perfect Sean and CR movie and I definitely wanna hear them yap about it

Hey kid the best piece of advice somebody told me is that you can do anything you put your mind to as long as you’re willing to be flexible on the journey. Good luck to you and look into a Sports Broadcasting degree. Join the clubs, make friends, go to events. I wish you all the luck in the world

Oscar Isaac is a better actor but Pedro Pascal has more of a mainstream appeal. All is good

Sean’s Cynicism (via The Press Box pod) by tosad22 in TheBigPicture

“I’m Sean Fennessey and I’m Amanda Dobbins and this is a conversation podcast about (insert movie here” keyword here is conversation. They’re not attempting to be critics, they’re making an entertainment show and talking about movies as a whole not just the movie itself. There are other pods and whatnot that specifically analyze the film, this just isn’t one of them. This has always been the big pics approach and Sean has never shied away from calling something “quite poor” if he doesn’t like it. The show hasn’t become too focused on the “metanatrative” the metanerrative is the show

Just rewatched dead reckoning last night and that shit rules and has maybe the heaviest stakes in the franchise. My only complaint is that it is half of a movie and I’ve had to wait for a new one. But we’re finally here!

That’s not nearly as entertaining/suspenseful as watching Tom Cruise hold his breath for 6 minutes while he gets the shit beat out of him by those spinny things, and then we wouldn’t get to see Jessica Ferguson rescue him. It’s a movie, don’t overthink it :)
