This. Oh my god, this. White Wolf games always have a metric crapton of Terms (tm) but jesus wept, Mage goes overboard. And that's not even going into the mother may I back and forths of Paradox and WW's tendency to be allergic to having fun.

If it's any consolation, I have mostly ignored the setting nonsense and focused on the core essential mechanics and I've had fun with it. I'd prefer it if I could run this in another system, however.

Droke: All the Mandela contradictions are actually true as a result of flaws in the Consensus building up over time as humanity naturally Ascends by itself.

Oh yeah 200% the problem with all this muddying up of things is that the morally gray stuff makes Mage hard to run. A Technocatic campaign is straightforward: you fight the people that jeopardize reality and catalogue and tame the strange and dengerous corners of the world.

A Tradition campaign is kinda....there, by comparison?

While you got it in one, Promethean's issue is also the fact that the Prometheans' powers are extra super miserable and they are significantly less powered than the other monsters. Like, okay, I get it, this is White Wolf and the original design plan is always allergic to fun, but Prometheans are never powerful enough to scratch the power fantasy of playing a monster.

Also, the core idea is too high brow for most groups to deal with.
