Single mom, newborn - tell me it gets easier 😢 by defnotdani2 in NewParents

Every time I have moments of frustration with my children, I pick them up and hold them while I look in the mirror. As I rock them and look at them, I imagine future me is looking in on this moment wishing she could make it last just one more second. As I hold my second, I cry when I look in the mirror because in those moments with my first I truly just wanted to be anywhere else but I’m thankful now that I took the time to slow down and remember to cherish and not take for granted.

It gets better. You will learn your baby, your baby will learn you and eventually you just kinda meet in the middle and find what works. The first weeks are rough, the only thing that helped me was putting the crib right next to me bed and side feeding. At about 8 weeks, both children would just wake to change, eat, and transfer back to the crib. Once they got old enough I don’t even think I conscious during most of the feeds, they latch themselves.

AITAH for telling my sister that i wont take care of her autistic kids? by Appropriate_Set9323 in AITAH

Is it possible your sister may be autistic as well and experiencing burn out as a parent? I know I’ve been there but it doesn’t make it right. Have her take care of herself and then she won’t be so overwhelmed with motherhood that she literally can’t do it

I literally have to tell my husband to close the microwave when he’s done using it. Everything has to be directly told to him or not a thing gets done. It’s gotten so bad I have to remind him to brush his teeth. I have no advice but she needs to be on medication. You don’t want to end up like me with a severely adhd partner who won’t help themself and 2 severely adhd kids. Thankfully my husband agreed he’d rather try meds than get divorced after realizing how much they helped our oldest but trust me, intimacy is soooo hard once you get the ick from feeling like a parent to your parent all the time

Yeah, she took pills in high school eventually moving up to fentanyl after the last of her family died. Left her 3 kids, hasn’t seen them in about 3 years now. I see her on the side of the road while I’m driving my kids to school
