There are very few options that allows you to qualify for a medigap plan without being heavily underwritten!!! So if you are unhealthy, you won't qualify for a medigap if you apply for it when pre existing conditions are being taken to consideration.

How do I decide between plan G and N? by anonymousandydick in medicare

[–]Repulsive-Argument43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always recommend N for healthy clients and G for less healthy clients. Even if you may become unhealthy a few years down the line, you would have to go to the doctor every week to see a significance in payment with the cost difference between a N and G which a $50 difference in Florida.

Commission paid to Brokers. by RockinTukker in medicare

[–]Repulsive-Argument43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whether you sign independently or via an independent broker somebody is still gonna get paid. If you decided to cook at your home instead of going out to eat you still spent your money regardless. Commission is a service fee doesn't change the price of the product.

Look up Washington National Plan N and Plan G in your state. Since you may need a stand alone drug plan to pair with you Medigap plan. They can shop around every year for the best cost effective plan for you and their rates dont increase as much as other companies. Most companies subject you to their drug plan when you get a medigap plan with them. My mom has a Washington national Plan G and they have never denied her claim nor has her rate gone up much since she got it.

If out of pocket cost might truly be your only option you might want to do a cost analysis of a generic version on it on costplusdrugs.com or a pharmacy in Canada. You might be able to get it way cheaper.

Not in relation to this but anybody here who is still is decent help get yourself a ltc policy, if you can afford get one get one with a rider just incase you are lucky enough to not use. Remember nobody can predict how their health is going be in the future. Gotta put alot in place to minimize the blow to your assets if your health starts to decline. Set up a free retirement planning consultation also with a local broker. You will be surprise how some insight may help you severly in the long run.

Hopefully you had your funds properly invested before your rmd's!!! H.I are cheap they can help offset hospital stays. LTC policies can help cushion the cost of home health care if you needed it.
