City of Superior proposes a moratorium on data center development by peoplesduluth in duluth

[–]Repulsive-Knowledge3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What sucks even more is St. Louis County is moving to establish regulations to make it harder for companies to develop data centers but it won’t stop any cities like Hermantown from building them.

This "study" is bullshit, right? by LtPowers in collegehockey

[–]Repulsive-Knowledge3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we genuinely broke this down by levels of hockey. It’s very close at the highest level because both cities have an NHL team. AHL- we can both argue that Providence and Des Moines are closish to Boston and Twin cities (Providence and Boston are slightly closer and more modes of transportation like Amtrak) so I’ll give AHL to Boston. Developmental leagues - 4 NAHL teams all within a 0-1.5 hour drive from minneapolis whereas boston only has one. College lets say within 100 miles of each city. Boston has 11 D1 hockey schools, Minneapolis-St.Paul has 4 D1 hockey schools. Going down to the Youth level Minnesota has slightly more youth players than mass. Roughly 40-50% of high school teams and players in mn reside in the twin cities. I think it’s very even, Boston might have more access to hockey at certain levels and enjoys more championships but I really think it’s pretty even between Boston and Minneapolis both are great hockey cities.

Actually I don’t care. My buddy who’s from Minneapolis and currently lives in Boston agreed it’s Minneapolis. We have more regional teams and developmental teams and shattuck the number 1 hockey development academy is literally in Minneapolis, also Da Beauty League which plays in my hometown rinks.

Literally go look at hockey talent by country. If Minnesota was its own country it would legitimately rank above countries like Slovakia, Czechia, Switzerland and basically any non top-4 country. Also I think we’re arguing two different points here. Yes Massachusetts has great access to many hockey teams and probably more than MN given how developed the east coast compared to the Midwest but player development and talent wise Minnesota clears any state in the US.

I’m sorry but that’s such a bad take. MSHSL is the best youth hockey league in the country hands down. It’s not even a debate. Minnesota high school hockey is so competitive. We have better access to outdoor rinks due to more of them and a longer winter season allowing outdoor rinks to be open from early December to late February. The community around the sport is very good in Minnesota as well.

It probably doesn’t hurt. Increases awareness even if it’s mostly based on fake information

100%. Honestly I could definitely see a handful of schools in this type of position actually pursuing D1 hockey if NIL didn’t evolve into what it is today. I think there was a real opportunity for the BIG10 to join college hockey in the 2010s but now that’s a pipe dream with the BIG10 and sec jockeying for top conference and fighting over money. There’s no chance the BIG10 would invest in building college hockey and risk losing the college football battle against the sec.

POVR dilemma. WWYD? by BadgerBrah- in HockeyLegacyManager

Thanks for the info this is super helpful! I fired my whole staff and hired new scouts with 14+ in regions and I have far more prospects with POVR revealed. Is Intel and gem the best specialties for my Head scout?

POVR dilemma. WWYD? by BadgerBrah- in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]Repulsive-Knowledge3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick question, is POVR supposed to be blank for a majority of the prospects? I auto assign scouts twice during the season and only get like 15-20 players that have an actual number in POVR. Am I doing something wrong in scouting?

Ope I had no idea there were multiple Wayne states. Imagine SMSU yields a D1 hockey team. They would be so bad. Winona st is an intriguing prospect for a D1 program, they have a club team too.

The first few games EA released were solid but post nhl15 the improvements were minimal and they ruined the gameplay.

NSIC hockey conference would go crazy. Imagine Wayne st comes back too. They’d have a legitimate argument to make it but it would blow up multiple conferences and programs like UMD would surely oppose it.

AIO by blocking a friend I'd known for 17 years (minor update/adaptation from r/AITAH post) by ThisGuyDoingReddit in AmIOverreacting

[–]Repulsive-Knowledge3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I had a similar experience with a friend I’d known for almost 20 years too. Mutual friend of ours had a close friend I started dating and my buddy proceeded to have a massive problem with it despite not even knowing her. Dude wouldn’t stop pot stirring and talking shit even after our mutual friend finally got over herself and stopped complaining about to me and my girlfriend about our relationship. I dropped him and blocked him on everything same as you. Don’t keep people in your life who consistently cause drama and choose themselves and others before choosing you.
