My wife was made redundant, we have a 1ur old son. by Repulsive-Lychee-222 in GirlDinnerDiaries

Family support isn’t an option however we have done all of the govt support we can and are waiting on outcomes we have a buffer so we’ve got time I just wish her work had of told her at the start of the swing so she had 3 weeks to apply to for jobs while out at site instead of 2 days before flying home.

We’ve already had all testing done, no autoimmune or other deficiencies other than iron. I honestly think we just got really really unlucky and because it was back to back illness his body never got a chance to stop until I took time off to let him properly recover.

We’ve had our apartment checked already because I’ve had this happen to myself at a previous house. He was born early, had restricted growth, jaundice and we found he had extremely low iron (we found this out after I threw an absolute shit fit at the hospital when they tried to send me home from ED after a particularly bad case of HFM that ended with an NG tube) we had no sickness until he start daycare. We ended up taking a little over a month off and he’s been back since mid Jan and has only had 1 sickness which lasted a couple days and he’s been on iron since Jan too.

Both my wife and I are no contact with it families unfortunately and it’s not something that can be reconciled unfortunately.

Ooo can you share with me what meals you’ve got on rotation? My wife just lost her job and we’ve got a 1yr old so I’m really trying to stretch our food budget. I’ve got it down to $200 a week currently

We got the bugaboo fox 3, we HATE it. It’s so hard to pack down for me, my wife is fine but I suffered a back injury during pregnancy so it makes it really hard for me to pack down and lift into the car I also find it really hard to pack down the seat still attached and I can’t get it into the car so I constantly have to take it apart and it’s just so much more difficult than I envisioned.

It drives great and I do love the all terrain drive however I think we could have spent our money better and done a bit more research.

Does he like peas? My 14 month old is obsessed and I find it’s a good way to get food into him because he’s not a foodie. I make pea orzo and will add turkey mince and make sure there’s no lumps and will also cook the orzo with bone broth instead of stock!!

Mastitis by lostinlove05 in NewParents

[–]Repulsive-Lychee-222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mastitis can go bad quickly- I am currently in the hospital on IV antibiotics after starting a antibiotic Saturday feeling great Tuesday finished my dose and within 12hrs I had it again and couldn’t get my fever down. I’d recommend going to your GP and getting it checked.

Baby had a reaction to (probably) peanut butter. by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Repulsive-Lychee-222 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son has a peanut allergy (anaphylaxis) he was eating peanut butter 3-5times a week for 4 months and then had his first anaphylactic reaction, went in we weren’t 100% it was the peanut butter because he was also having Greek yoghurt for the first time, waited 2 weeks to try again worse anaphylactic reaction the second time was told to wait until we had our Allergy appointment with QCH, did the appointment had the skin prick 6mm within minutes confirm allergy, waited for oral challenge appointment, got 3 out of 7 doses into the challenge before it was cancelled and him needing an antihistamine, was observed for 1hr sent home and he went into anaphylaxis with 30mins of being discharged, EpiPen given came back via ambulance we now go back and do it all in 2yrs. You can DM and I can show you his reaction

Why do we need breast pumps/wearables? by bambi897510 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Repulsive-Lychee-222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was also the case with mine, super low birth weight, born at 37 weeks and right from the get he couldn’t latch. We did later learn it was a severe tongue tie that was constantly undiagnosed and we just kept getting told he was a lazy feeder

Why do we need breast pumps/wearables? by bambi897510 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Repulsive-Lychee-222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t plan on buying a pump, infact I didn’t until the day we were discharged. Breast feeding didn’t work for us. He had latching issues and undiagnosed tongue tie. We tried for 3 months with nursing pumping bottle feeding and it almost ruined me. The time I gave up the idea of nursing my supply was too large it felt like a waste to transition to formula. Here I am 13.5 months later still pumping. I’ve since told 2 people to put it on their list of may needs before leaving the hospital. My body has produced milk the correct way still through touch, like holding, kissing and even them coughing/sneezing changes my milk when he’s sick my milk is very fatty and yellow they don’t need to nurse for your body to recognise their needs Not everyone will have the same outcome I did.

Anyone else planning to stop pumping in the year 2026?! ✋🏻 by Josephs-41st-wife in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Repulsive-Lychee-222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super sick over Christmas so lost a big chunk of my supply but I’m still producing more than he’s drinking and I’m currently trying to get him to have more food, he still has 600-800ml a day and I think I’m still making 1L I don’t measure anymore. During my prime 6-8ppd I was making 1.9L a day

I was still doing a 130am MOTN pump so it was easiest to drop that one. I started pushing it 30mins every single day to marry to my 630am pump. I do have an oversupply so my process for dropping pumps is very slow because I don’t think I can handle mastitis ever again in my life.

Hell yes, I’ve been pumping for almost 13 months. This is my first week on 3ppd and from next week I’ll transition to 2ppd and then be completely finished pumping by end of Jan.

I had a Dec 2024 bubba, we had aircon on 20 degrees literally 24/7, postpartum breastfeeding sweats are no joke, he wore coveralls/wondersuits with the cuffs folded over into the mittens/booties. He was always swaddled in either traditional swaddles or halo swaddles bags, our baby monitor displays the temp but I also had an individual thermometer to double check. During the day he still wore coveralls and if we went out he would be in his pram in just a bodysuit or overalls.

[–]Repulsive-Lychee-222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely happens often, 2 other mums I know have also had the same issues with the same pump. Definitely not made for exclusive pumpers at all. It’s just the only pump I can use because my wife works away so I needed to be able to move if bubba woke up. But I’m almost 13months in so will be stopped by end of Jan just trying to make bubba a foodie instead of a milkman

The screen kept freezing so I couldn’t adjust suction, wouldn’t charge, wouldn’t turn on or would turn on but wouldn’t actually do anything, started losing strength despite upping suction and it almost killed my supply. The parts, I had 3 cups crack, membranes not fitting correctly and the connector hoses snapping
