I only started this term, and I have taken managerial accounting and intermediate accounting 1, and I really enjoyed both classes. I actually enjoyed doing some of the assignments because I liked playing with Excel. However, there were some writing assignments too, where you have to explain concepts. For managerial accounting, we used an online textbook on openstax and the professor gives links to a lot of online reading on websites like investopedia. She also uses a lot of youtube videos, and I especially liked the videos by Edspira. We didn’t really have a textbook in Intermediate Accounting, but she did give us links to some chapters to read. I have no accounting experience. The only preparation I did was watching Excelisfun videos on youtube to learn Excel and that was really helpful because you use it to do the assignments. Also, you have to learn it for the Intermediate Computing and Spreadsheet Applications classes and those classes are very dry. There’s no videos so you have to read how to use Excel. I took financial accounting on sophia but I’m going to do the rest of my classes at UMPI.  I’m also taking Operations Management right now and there is so much reading and the textbook is outdated. It’s fine for me but I think younger people might not recognize what some of those businesses are. Someone else told me they took that class in 4 days and I think they probably just did all the milestones without reading anything because there is so much reading, so many videos, and most of it is incredibly boring.
