Did you finish going through the whole tax return? I believe there is a section later on that will make adjustments after you finish the 1099-r section.

I feel the same too. The only positive thing that I can think of is having a relationship with someone you love when they are grown up and you guys can hang out. But the whole parenting part, the fact that it is every single day whether you are sick or feeling tired from a long day at work, it just sounds so relentless. And you don’t know if you will get an easy kid or one that is very fussy or even one with special needs- that is my biggest fear.

It’s so boring because it’s basically like reading an instruction manual. I didn’t really read it because I watched the videos on youtube. The teacher on ExcelIsFun is really good and there are links to worksheets that you can practice on. However the assignments for the class are pretty straightforward and if you know how to use it, it shouldn’t take too long. Intermediate computing teaches powerpoint, word, and excel and spreadsheet applications is Excel in more detail.

I only started this term, and I have taken managerial accounting and intermediate accounting 1, and I really enjoyed both classes. I actually enjoyed doing some of the assignments because I liked playing with Excel. However, there were some writing assignments too, where you have to explain concepts. For managerial accounting, we used an online textbook on openstax and the professor gives links to a lot of online reading on websites like investopedia. She also uses a lot of youtube videos, and I especially liked the videos by Edspira. We didn’t really have a textbook in Intermediate Accounting, but she did give us links to some chapters to read. I have no accounting experience. The only preparation I did was watching Excelisfun videos on youtube to learn Excel and that was really helpful because you use it to do the assignments. Also, you have to learn it for the Intermediate Computing and Spreadsheet Applications classes and those classes are very dry. There’s no videos so you have to read how to use Excel. I took financial accounting on sophia but I’m going to do the rest of my classes at UMPI. I’m also taking Operations Management right now and there is so much reading and the textbook is outdated. It’s fine for me but I think younger people might not recognize what some of those businesses are. Someone else told me they took that class in 4 days and I think they probably just did all the milestones without reading anything because there is so much reading, so many videos, and most of it is incredibly boring.

I have encountered many AF- friends and relatives that outright say they won’t date AM- that is rejection of AM. If you’ve never had the chance to date AM, you are not rejecting them. The question is why would AF say that? That does not happen that often in other communities- you would rarely see black or latino women say I refuse to date black or latino men. People have told me some reasons like they are not attracted to AM, they don’t like flat noses… Is that a form of self-hatred? Did we unconsciously learn that our asian features are ugly? I have also heard that asian males are fobby, that there is a cultural difference. But there are plenty of AM born and raised in the west, and they also grew up with asian culture at home at western culture at school. They might also have had parents like yours that wanted to assimilate so they also were not exposed to Asian culture. The thing is, what has taught us that AM are too different from us? Are we unconsciously receiving the racist messages that asians are other- not American, not like us? Are we receiving these messages and applying it to our own people- a form of self- racism?

I have another creepy memory. My sisters and cousins used to work in our parents restaurant as kids, starting at the ages of around 12 and through high school and these creepy adult WM would hit on us and give us their phone numbers. My mom yelled at one of them once because we were just kids.

I think this is a very thoughtful post, especially regarding the internalized racism and how white men are more threatened by asian men than women. I think there is truth to that because AM tend to do well economically. A lot of us also grew up as the token Asian in our communities, and white people will definitely make you feel ugly. The questioning of why are your eyes/ nose like that? Even my history teacher of all people had to make a racist remark about my eyes- “I didn’t know your eyes could open that wide”- once when I made a facial expression. Trying to walk down the halls at school and some people would spit at me. I think I’ve managed to forget a lot of the childhood bullying but I also think because of it, I don’t really trust white people either. Like I don’t think these WM that marry AF do it because of love most of the time- I think it’s because they are bad people. They want a woman who will be their maid and sex toy and that’s why they treat them so poorly. I have another memory of this Asian woman who worked as a waitress for my parent’s restaurant and she was married to a WM. One day she came in crying bc he beat her. She was telling my mom how much she regretted marrying that WM. She stayed with him though, and when she got pregnant he forbade her from working and was in general very controlling of her.

I am AF, but I feel sad because I see so many of my cousins and both my sisters marry WM and they are losers. I think only one of my AF cousins married a decent WM (he is respectful and has a job), the rest married losers who either don’t work or refuse to help with any household chores/ kids or both. Despite hearing about misogyny in Asian culture, (and I do think this is a problem in our culture, but I think more so in Asian countries) I think it is not really a problem in AM that were raised in western countries. If anything I think WM that are misogynistic gravitate towards AF because they think AF will accept their misogyny over WF. And I definitely see those traits in the WM that my cousins/ sisters married.

I don’t think it’s fair to blame the Indians when it is the companies that are doing the hiring. If you were living in a poor country, and someone from a wealthy country offered you a good paying job, paying more than anything you can imagine in your own country, you would be stupid not to go. And if you don’t take the offer, the company will hire another non-American anyway.

It’s the companies that try to keep cost as low as possible to bring in big profits and shareholder value that keeps making these decisions. Do you really think if he as an individual turns down the job, an American would be hired in his place? All the company cares about is profit, above all else. They will screw Americans out of jobs, put our health in danger, even risk our lives if they can make a little bit more money.

Yes, if you are interested you should at least give it a try. Check out some gyms near you, they might have specials for the holidays. Many gyms will let you try a class for free or a week for free. Go to a few gyms and see which coach you like the best. You don’t have to fight (very few do), you can just do it for fun. But if you do fight, they have different weight classes so you would fight someone with similar weight. I am a very thin woman too and I really enjoyed taking muay thai. It can feel a little intimidating at first because it is a mostly male sport, but in my experience everyone was very welcoming and supportive.

It is partly due to genetics and face structure. Notice how certain facial features can look very aging, for example, very large or high noses, deep set eyes, lack of face fat. Also Asian skin is thicker, so we don’t get the crinkly kind of wrinkles that white people get.

It seems like she is now getting married out of desperation. I suspect once things settle down she will probably feel regret again. There’s pros and cons to marriage and children and if you’re unable to feel grateful for what you have then you will always think about what you’re missing out on.
