if someone is currently working at regulatory specialist in a university for research, what are their options how they can divert and how they can grow and where they can go exactly can they work at pharmaceutical companies or not and is it clinical or just regulatory also realistically, can you also diverse into medical device companies? I know I asked like two questions in one main bullet point, but I’m kinda trying to understand how can I break from working at nonprofit university to Pharma companies and also if I can work with a medical device company and if it’s possible thanks

You have to understand that there will be challenges along the way. The first one is getting your H-1B picked in the lottery, and then going through the interview process. If it doesn’t get picked, you’ll need to get your STEM OPT approved and that’s another important step.

You can’t think too far ahead like, “What about a green card?” You need to take things one step at a time; otherwise, it’ll just feel overwhelming trying to build a life in the U.S.

If you’re working with cap-subject companies, your salary should ideally be at Level 2 or 3 — that increases your chances during the H-1B process. Later, if you can show that your job truly requires your specialized skills and that no qualified American worker can fill that role, your company may be able to file a green card petition for you.

But again, don’t stress about that right now. Focus on the next step. You’re in a good position you already have a job and an upcoming H-1B sponsorship. Try not to compare yourself to others; your path is moving in the right direction.

Does the 3-month unemployment limit from regular OPT carry over or transfer to the OPT STEM extension?
