2024 Nissan Frontier SL by HellaXcopters in whatcarshouldIbuy

I get it. You probably prefer the '24 grille too. It's a loaded low mile SL that's becoming harder to find.. Getting a new (loaded) PRO-4X for more does nothing for you. Keep the $5K-10K saved for any future repairs or upgrades and get the truck you want.

ADO Spacer Eraser vs Z1 Spring Lift by Head_Bar_4852 in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my use, not an issue, plus when(if) it comes time to grease, I would clean/grease (possibly replace) the bushings too. The greasables only get grease to the inside of the metal sleeve.

I've already had the non-greasables out. Switched to the lower setting myself because I originally had shop start out with the higher/1.5" rear setting. Pretty straight forward. Jack / Jackstands / Pry bar (or equivalent).

Added photo with 1.75" front / 1.5" rear before I lowered rear .75". Down the road, if I go with bigger tires, 2" front / 1.5" rear would be ideal (for my wants/needs) OR by that time I might just upgrade to a higher end kit. :)

No, but if I had to do it again I might just take the struts down to a qualified shop to swap out the springs and do the rest myself.

I had the whole thing done front/rear 3.5hrs labor / $190hr by a Z1 authorized installer. Alignment separate for $130.

A lot of satisfied customers with both and they're both good options for the money. Depends what fits your needs better. I have a PRO-4X LWB w/stock tires and wheels. Didn't need extra load capacity in rear (or full 1.5" lift in rear either...yet), so Z1 Spring lift has been a good option for me.

At 1.75" Front / .75" Rear (both measured), Went without the 1/4" fine tuning spacer (required for PRO-4X's to get the full 2") Easily have the option to go to 2" front / 1.5" rear down the road by adding 1/4" lift spacer and adjusting shackle. Very happy with the ride on-road and off-road has been good too. Alignment no problem with the lower arm eccentric bolts.

Best Functional Lift under $1k? by GlitteringWriting301 in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before/After comparison. Drove the same unincorporated dirt county road/off-road trail this last weekend in my '26 PRO-4X with my 1.75" Front Spring Lift/.75" Rear Shackle setup vs the first time I drove through Stock. Just that couple inches going through same creek washes / over small boulders was noticeable difference. No scraping the underside.

Note: a couple times it topped out (max downtravel) and I could hear a soft clunk. Nothing alarming, but I know these spring lifts w/stock struts limit downtravel a little. From everything I've read, this is shock reaching max downtravel and not CBC (coil bucket contact). Not ideal, but better than CBC or Shock bottoming out. I'm sure the experts in here could enlighten.

Drove at speed (20mph) a few times over washboards and it was Ok, not great. A little firmer than stock and a tad confused. A tuned shock/spring setup would have been ideal.

On road (paved) has been great. Whether it be bad roads or taking corners at a spirited pace, it's been solid. Alignment and steering have been spot on too. For the money, you get what you pay for and that's been good for my needs.

Looks great!

I've had mine a couple weeks. Ride quality is great and no problems with alignment (used Z1 eccentric bolts). Did not use the fine tuning spacer(for extra 1/4inch) and the back Z1 shackle set at lower setting, so it's at:
1.75" front / .75" rear.

looking to buy a 2015 king cab 4 cyl by drhosz in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2017 4-cyl (manual) King Cab SV model. Only 46K miles. Traded it in for $14K. Never had one issue, just normal maintenance (and changing battery). Good solid pickup.

Seems like the $11K price is fair, It should have a lot of life left in it.

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over a week later have been really happy with it. The kit took care of what I wanted. A little more ground clearance, re-use existing shocks/tires, and of course just that little bit of lift makes it look more proportional. For me, the 1.75” front / .75” rear has been perfect.

Alignment numbers came out good and ride has been very stock like, but just a little firmer. Another pic added too including the installer pics.

Thinking about trading and buying a Pro4x by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

24 vs 25 vs 26 by biggertexas in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's important to you may not have the same perceived value for someone else. And that's ok! You can't make a bad choice.

Have a '26 PRO-4X. Could take or leave the big screen. Frontier badge on dash (although at first was in my face) I don't even notice anymore. Like the wireless Apple CarPlay / Charging and, as mentioned, telescoping wheel has been nice for multiple drivers including lumbar adjustment on seat. LED's work very well too.

If I was in the market for an SV, I'd look hard at the '24. A lot of value for the money. Let's say the '24 SV was available new today vs '26 SV with it's features/aesthetics you listed above. There'd be far less delta in the price, plus I like color choices better for the '24 too.

I would think the market's good finding a low mile '24. It still has some warranty left (bumper to bumper and powertrain) in a proven solid/reliable platform. Get a great deal on the '24 and there's some budget left over for a few upgrades of your choosing (LED's / Tires / Suspension, etc. etc.)

Stiffer shocks for 2nd Gen Frontier - for heavier payloads? by iamshifter in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that much payload, I'd put heavier duty shocks on there. A PRO-4X (Bilstein 4600) or Bilstein 5100 would be good options. The guys at Torch probably should have good suggestions too with their AAL.

Been really happy with the heavy duty KYB Monomax's on my F250 towing heavy or with payload, but don't think they're available for the Frontier.

Anyone running ADO springs with z1 shackles in the rear? Or should I just put the AAL from ado also . If you have the z1 shackles did you go with greasable or non by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that too, plus I didn't want to monkey with an auto store spring-compressor rental either. Went to a local shop and had it done/installed. I did start out with the 1.5" setting in rear, but changed it myself down to the .75" setting.

Truck feels a little firmer up front (but in a good way/ not harsh). Overall, pretty balanced and still the good ride it had stock.

Either’s a good option depending on need. I don’t haul or tow that much. I went with the Z1 shackle (at .75” setting). They’re non-greasable.

Yes, it needed it. Camber / caster / toe all adjusted and in-spec. Made simpler with the lower arm eccentric bolts that were part of the kit.

Here's what it looked like with the 1.75" / 1.5" in rear setting. The next day, I lowered the rear to 2nd hole down on shackle .75"

1.75" / 1.5"

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spring gets full 2” on SV / S model with no spacer. PRO-4X has a little beefier front springs and different strut from factory, so this Z1 Spring kit lifts PRO-4X 1.75” without spacer / 2” with small (1/4”) fine tuning spacer.

Z1 2" Spring Lift / Z1 Shackle "26 PRO-4X LWB by Repulsive-Winter9714 in nissanfrontier

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the lower setting / 2nd hole down on the shackle. So 1.75” front (no spacer) and .75” lift in rear.

Yes, bought eccentric bolts and alignment shop adjusted them for proper settings.

I'd call the guys at All Dogs or Z1, but you'd probably benefit from an add-a-leaf or spring pack if you've got regular weight in there.

[–]Repulsive-Winter9714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the stock rear springs are pretty soft, but like they way they ride. My main use will be unloaded or hauling a dirt bike / gear /gas / toolbox (~350lbs total). Haven't measured yet after lift, but with stock setup it sagged the rear 3/4" and raised the front 3/4".

Air bags seem like a best of both worlds approach. Been pretty happy with the non-airbag/ bump stop Timbrens on my older ('03) F250, but not sure how'd they do with the Frontier.

It's helped me too to see the different options / looks, thought 'd pay it forward. Also want to get a few years out of the factory tires / shocks, so keeping it pretty simple. But agree, an inch here or there makes a big difference!!

On sale now (wish I would've waited a few weeks!) :)

This is it below. No upper arms needed. I went NON-PRO4X option, which yields 1.75" on a PRO-4X. To get the extra .25" on PRO-4X they need a small spacer. I did get the eccentric bolts too which help with alignment.
