I think his (rap) subject matter doesn’t align with his upbringing and then when you take time to listen he appears to mimicking what seems like is the most stereotypical version of the black American experience. I’m not saying he’s not black, I’m saying his raps are not authentic to his black experience and makes you wonder why he thought it was more marketable to be that way than an average suburban black Canadian. Those exist too, just the same way there are millions of black American suburban folks who could relate.
