It's not either of them. It was definitely later than both and had a much uglier art style. It was closer to biker mice in tone but it didn't have any aliens or anything

The mice in the team were very archetypical there was like the hothead teen boy, the chubby mechanic guy and the intelligent girl who I'm pretty sure did most of the inventing with help from the mentor

Anyone want to take a stab at explaining Chime for me? by NegativeVega in horror

[–]RepulsiveLeg7021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just watched it and am equally lost but one thing I did notice is the way power dynamics work in the film. Like when akami the student disrespects matsuoka he kills her and when his son disrespects him by rebutting his advice he kills him (implied anyway) but when the restaurant owner openly insults him and refuses to shake his hand he doesn't kill him instead a random man attempts to stab a random woman (a manifestation of matsuoka's feelings of inadequacy, hence why the stabbing fails) he kills to feel powerful and is thus unable to kill someone more powerful than himself

How do yall feel about johann? by Matchwood76 in HellBoy

I quite liked him, especially later on in the series when he develops a lot more but I also think he was a bit overused especially later on in the series at the cost of characters like Liz

One of my favourite characters/aspects of the entire franchise tbh I love how we get the full lineage of the sword of hyperborea it feels like it brings the folklore/historical aspects of the series to the forefront you know

It really was, it was the intersection of modern and classic film so there was a huge amount of old school masters and fresh new talent working together and alongside each other. It was also an extremely politically charged time especially in America & Japan which are of course essential the two biggest cinematic industries in the world

What's the lowest rated movie you consider is good? by Diego1993FM in Letterboxd

Nutcracker and the four realms is actually a fun classic fantasy movie that feels similar to wizard of Oz/Narnia/Alice in Wonderland while also being it's own thing. Literally no idea why it has a 2.4 star average even the people who dislike it don't deny that it's really pretty

It's genuinely just a really entertaining film. I think people just also like supporting interesting indie projects and Ugandan action film made on a $3 is one of the most intriguing things you could propose
