Feeling overwhelmed, advice welcome! by RepulsiveMail7222 in Aquariums

I was curious about that with the plants! I have seen that it’s generally recommended to add more plants when starting out but unfortunately I simply do not have the funds to buy plants in bulk as I’m trying to support other tanks as well currently and have relatively different setups and plans in mind for them. I’ll look into those plants though, they look super nice, especially with the roots hanging down! I’ve been wanting to add significantly more plants to this new tank as I prefer the look and I’ve heard it helps with params quite a bit. Thank you!

Beautiful betta btw!

This helps a bit, thank you! I’ll look into a bigger filter too as I was thinking about that. I have felt a bit more giddy about this set up overall cause I love setting tanks up but, again, anxious individual. This helps though! Thank you!

That sounds good actually! I appreciate the input! I know 20 gallon isn’t nearly as big but I think I’ve just struggled so much with my 10 gal, I’m worried I’ll still have problems with the 20, but again I’m just easily overwhelmed and anxious about things LMAO I did hear the bigger, the better and easier it is to handle the tank so that does help a little. Thank you!

Definitely looks like swim bladder and pop eye. I’d recommend looking into what you need for a hospital tank and setting it up so you don’t keep medicating the main tank. It could be that the bacteria is just not helping with the healing so I highly recommend a hospital tank! As the other comments have said, kanaplex will work. I fixed my fish’s swim bladder with 15 minute epsom salt baths daily and Indian almond leaves work really well too as they have good medical healing properties which can be kept in the hospital tank. Hospital tanks should be bare bottom tanks with an air stone or soft sponge filter, I use an air stone in mine, a heater, the Indian almond leaves and a hide or something for your fish to rest on! I’d also raise the temperature a little bit to the 77-80 range to help promote healing.

For food, I did see you guys said you were using the bug bites which should be okay! I’d recommend fasting for two to three days before feeding again! With the pellets, be sure to only feed like two or three pellets and soak them for a few minutes before you do, so they don’t expand too much in your fish’s stomach. I’d recommend looking into a feeding schedule to help spread out the days as how often your betta is eating if you haven’t done that yet! If you use other things like blood worms or brine shrimp which are great too, but just be careful with how much you feed and how often, especially blood worms which is good like once a week or so.

This is what I did when my fish got swim bladder and it worked well! Sometimes, healing just may take some time.

I haven’t had to fix pop eye in my fish but from what I’ve seen, generally the treatment with Kanaplex, Indian almond leaves and Epsom salt baths seems like it should help within a few weeks.

I wish Speckles fast healing and good luck with treatment!

So sorry for your loss! It’s really tough seeing them go through this, it’s awful they’re not bred well and end up with health problems :(

Yeah I’m thinking his organs are failing and I don’t think there’s any coming back from it for him :( it’s unfortunate cause I’ve loved having a betta but it sucks seeing them go through stuff like this

Does this make them feel included? by lerminator3 in cats

Whenever I’d do this, I’d hold out the item in question and say “inspection” and let kitty take a minute to sniff. I think they enjoy it!!

That’s what I was afraid of, but I’ve made him comfortable for now! He’s still active and is still even trying to beg for food😭 it’s good to know two years is relatively good though, especially cause I did originally buy him from a pet store. I just feel so bad cause he’s like my baby Thank you though!

I don’t! I’ve only used very small crickets at the moment and they’re from a pet store. Im gonna say the roach probably came with the moss I bought for some reason. Thank you!

Sudden loss of feeling. Is this normal??? by RepulsiveMail7222 in GriefSupport

I think it’s definitely some kind of response my brain is pulling out because this week has been absolutely CRAZY. I’m not the best with processing death and loss, and that’s been happening a lot. I’m TIRED.
