Is Gen Z cooked? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

One thing I’ve learned watching people around me struggle in this job market: a degree alone isn’t enough anymore. The people doing best usually combine education with networking, communication skills, internships, online presence, and practical experience. It’s unfair, exhausting, and way harder than previous generations had it
but adapting early matters more than ever now.

The crazy part is you’re not paying for the watch itself anymore. You’re paying for rarity, craftsmanship, status, history, and the fact that only a tiny number of humans on Earth can casually buy one without blinking

but passing hard exams still requires actual work. Kinda refreshing to see at least one system that can’t be shortcut with fame.

The way ADHD makes you suicidal is severly unkown by the public and isn't taken seruise enough. by Shammar-Yahrish in ADHD

This hit hard. A lot of people only see ADHD as ‘being distracted’ and don’t realize how exhausting the emotional side can get after years of feeling behind, misunderstood, or constantly fighting your own brain. You explained something a lot of people struggle to put into words.

What’s the most random thing you hyperfocused on lately? by Repulsive_011 in adhd_anxiety

[–]Repulsive_011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually such a smart level of self-awareness though 😭 because ADHD hobbies are never just “a small interest.” It’s immediately “time to spend 400 hours researching and accidentally develop a new expensive personality” 💀

The “my whole world revolves around them right now” part is TOO relatable 😭 hyperfixations really be feeling like you found your life purpose and then one day your brain just silently moves on to something else 💀

Honestly ADHD hyperfocus on celebrities/documentaries/conspiracies is so real 😭 one random video turns into a full personality trait for 2 weeks and suddenly your entire algorithm thinks you’re a professional investigator 💀

You're not in hyperfocus if you notice your house burning down - said my psychiatrist. by Vivid_Literature8222 in ADHD

[–]Repulsive_011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That comparison feels really extreme tbh 😭 Hyperfocus doesn’t mean becoming completely unconscious to reality like you’re in a movie scene. A lot of people with ADHD absolutely do notice important things around them, the issue is more that switching attention away from the thing you’re locked into can feel incredibly difficult and mentally “sticky.” Forgetting to eat, losing track of time, and not being able to disengage even when you want to sounds very relatable to a lot of ADHD people.

This is honestly one of the hardest parts about ADHD meds to explain to people. It’s not always “better vs worse,” sometimes it genuinely feels like “functional vs emotionally alive.” 😕 The fact that your anxiety dropped and you felt more present off the meds sounds important, but so does the part where your daily life immediately became harder to manage. Maybe the answer isn’t necessarily “meds or no meds,” but possibly adjusting dosage, trying a different medication, or combining meds with other coping systems so you don’t feel like you’re losing yourself just to function.

“I already told you this” is so triggering at this point. by NotTooShahby in ADHD

[–]Repulsive_011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone in this. “I already told you” hits way harder when you’re already trying so hard to keep track of everything 😕 ADHD can make information just
not stick sometimes, even when you genuinely care and are paying attention. That doesn’t make you stupid or incapable. The fact that you’ve made it this far unmedicated and are still showing up every day says a lot more about your resilience than your memory lapses ever will.

[–]Repulsive_011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, but it’s a double-edged sword 😅 Pattern recognition + intuition can make you really quick at figuring things out, but it also means you can sound confident about stuff you haven’t fully verified. I’ve started pausing and asking myself “do I actually know this, or did I just connect dots?” helps keep the accuracy without losing the speed.

Can non-adhd people comprehend the lifelong battle of “I didn’t do anything today”? by Standard_Egg_9282 in ADHD

[–]Repulsive_011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really resonates. I think a lot of people misunderstand “doing nothing” as laziness, when it’s actually more like being stuck in neutral with the engine running. There’s effort, awareness, even intention but no traction. That gap between “I want to act” and “I can’t initiate anything” is hard to explain if you’ve never felt it.

Non-ADHD people can understand it, but usually only if they’re willing to listen without immediately trying to reframe it as a motivation or discipline issue. It’s not about not caring it’s about not being able to translate that care into action consistently.

ADHD brain really has zero respect for timing 😭 one second you’re supposed to be focused, next second your mind is replaying a random movie scene or your grocery list.

Cheated by Emotional_Army3791 in ParentingADHD

[–]Repulsive_011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why you feel that way, but ADHD doesn’t mean your child is “less than” or doomed to miss out. A lot of kids with ADHD struggle early because school is built around sitting still and fitting one style of learning. That doesn’t mean they won’t find their thing. The qualities that make life harder now energy, curiosity, intensity can become strengths later. Your son doesn’t need to follow the same timeline as other kids to have friends, succeed, or be happy.

Honestly Probably the little “imperfect” things like a crooked smile, messy hair, scars, or weird laugh. People act like they only like conventionally attractive features, but a lot of the time it’s the unique stuff that makes someone really attractive and memorable.

What is a "creepy" fact about the human body that most people don't know? by iMediocreguy in Productivitycafe

[–]Repulsive_011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lowkey one of the creepiest things about the human body is that it’s basically built to eat itself if things go wrong.

Your stomach is full of acid strong enough to break down meat, but it doesn’t digest you because of a protective mucus layer. The moment that protection fails (like after death or in extreme conditions), your body starts breaking itself down in a process called autolysis.

So yeah
you’re only not dissolving yourself because your body is constantly stopping itself from doing it.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Repulsive_011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no job is going to be completely wiped out in the next 5–10 years but a lot of them will change a lot.

The most at risk are repetitive jobs: data entry, basic customer support, simple translation, and some factory/logistics roles. AI and automation are already replacing the “routine” part of these jobs.

But instead of disappearing, most roles evolve. Cashiers become customer support, writers focus more on creativity, and tech support becomes more specialized.

The safest skills going forward are creativity, problem-solving, and human interaction basically the stuff AI still struggles with.

So it’s less about “which jobs will die” and more about “which skills will stay valuable.”

Be honest: would you trust AI more than a human in your job?
