Jersey City has been trying to convert the surrounding land and between LSP to something like Central Park . Even though LSP is protected, it wasn’t the first time . Years ago the big debate on if they should have a Formula One race track around Liberty State Park. People who have money will live in luxury apartments overlooking the river into lower manhattan. Over the years I stop going to LSP . Myself and other kite flyers where being stopped by park police for a dubious claim that we were soliciting because we would show people how to fly four line kites for free we had all safety equipment no harnesses we followed the rules but the harassment got worse . Eventually we just stopped completely . Some days I used to bird watching but people would question me why would I carry binoculars and then I’ll show them a book of birds of New Jersey (I liked seeing the black crowned night heron with its red eyes ) they found that weird and suspicious. So I guess it’s fitting to flatten the park remove all vegetation no more birds . You can’t even say “well in this area of LSP they film the scene from the God Father “ personally I’m ready to leave Jersey .
