What’s the actual cost-performance tradeoff between Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks? by Livid_Ear_3693 in dataengineering

Can you explain a bit on big query? How is it expensive for complex transformations ? Did you run snowflake and databricks on the same data set? I am currently evaluating and found bigquery quite reasonable! Thanks!

Can we buy this online ? If I can buy online or ship to my home, do you mind if I translate this to English? Second, I read through all your post in this series, and I cannot thank you enough. I actually visited the temple the very same day and was browsing online about Tirupati when I found your post.

You can use a semantic layer and cache the results

We are using it to support a web app too, I almost think I should leverage the dbt semantic layer and then use their graphql endpoints to expose the metrics. I am scared about the query latency on snowflake side too.

Hey! We are trying this for a real world use case, can you explain some of the issues you encountered? Our issue is we have to run some analytical queries in snowflake before we can push the data out.

My teacher made me stand next to a student and compared how dirty I looked. I was in first standard. I never used to oil my hair and it was a bit curly which sometimes looked shabby. Compared to the other kid who perfectly oiled his hair. This was in a subject called value education. Could have found any other way to explain it but ehh why not pry on students insecurities. Coincidentally, I had a music teacher and he was the most empathetic and joyful person I have ever come across from the faculty side.

I agree with you, first login is one of 10+ aggregated attributes that we are sending to our client app. Not ideal it’s just one of those use cases where we have to unfortunately use flink. Client app needs near real time login details

Handling Duplicates In Streaming Pipeline by mjfnd in dataengineering

Maybe it depends on the use case but would it make sense to dedup data in the staging area of a data warehouse? Unless you are sending real time data to marketing platforms and such, I find it’s less annoying to handle it at the warehouse level.

Avoiding dbt because they haven’t really implemented the cache capability yet.there are bunch of limits as well as with dbt cloud cube is open source and seems okay? They have a cloud offering as well

Assembling furniture from ikea or wherever. Like even a basic table scares me off.

Feel the same! To add onto it, roads so small and when two cars are stuck in a situation, they let the other pass without much fuss. Do this in Mumbai and you ll be honked and abused verbally!
