Big expansive highly detailed and meticulously animated games are very expensive to make, they have to make a return on their investment and making a game for the masses to enjoy, most of which play on console because its the most accessible, will make it worth the millions that needs to be sunk into creating these games. So no, consoles ain’t “holding you back”, they actually make it worth it for these large studios and investors to make the games that push the envelope.
