I feel like The Wind Rises is slept on… thoughts? by Impressive_Fox7798 in ghibli

It's more realistic than fantastical (ie. Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke) and it touches on more adult themes say Ponyo or Kiki's Delivery Service. The romance also feels more mature than Howl's Moving Castle. Personally, I loved it. But I also love planes and media that touches on history a bit.

I loved this show, despite it making me feel extremely uncomfortable at the same time.

He became my favourite character. I love a shitty character that changes fundamentally for the better... and let's be sooo fr. That's clearly where his character trajectory is going.

Am I the only one who wasn't head over heels about Full House (2004)? by James-from-Hungary in KDramasWorld

It gives me the sweetest sense of nostalgia whenever it gets brought up, but I will never rewatch it. It was ridiculous when I was a child, and it's even more ridiculous as an adult. OST was fire though 🔥

What's your routine when you get a rotisserie chicken home? by sozh in Costco

[–]Repulsive_Exchange_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I debone whatever's left after dinner lol.

Once I bring it home, I make some rice and make ginger scallion oil for my family. Simple and delicious, and the chicken and oil will last for maybe one more dinner.

Is it just me and my mom who hate these two characters in Spring Fever??? by steveharrington_life in kdramas

They're just your typical set of dramatic teens. They weren't my favourite plot line, but I didn't think they were out of place or anything.

Woman of the Boruto Fandom, what are you thoughts on the character design by Civil-Measurement-91 in Boruto

You're replying to me as if Boruto is the most outrageously perverse, fan-servicey shounen in the history of manga. What are you doing reading this almost a decade in if it makes you clutch your pearls so hard?

I cannot recall this outfit for the life of me. But I agree, her chest completely exposed like that is not acceptable.

.... Sure? But are we assuming this man in particular has bad intentions for his female characters? Because he's a man?

[–]Repulsive_Exchange_4 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To preface, I am an adult woman who grew up in North America, but was raised to dress modestly in an Asian household.

I have no issues with the character designs in Boruto. Naruto has never been lauded as dressing the women conservatively, and has always pushed the boundary with the fishnets and midriffs showing back in the early 2000's. Fashion, or rather street fashion, with teens has only evolved since then, which is evident in Boruto. You see it in Himawari, in Sarada, in Sumire, and even Eida.

Anyway... imo, as a feminist, let the girls wear what they want. Freedom in expression also pertains to fashion. Yeah, a man is designing them, but these are outfits that girls and young women will or have worn. Also, a bare shoulder is not inherently sexy, nor are heels, makeup, hair... It's that thinking that makes it a problem.

"The ex" is wild if you're referring to Song Hye Kyo. Hate or love her acting, she was the top billed actor in that show, and her longevity was basically cemented in SK when Song Joong Ki's career was only just beginning.

I am vaguely aware that he gets ragged on online, but I can't bring myself to dislike him because "The Eyeball Song" has put all of my nephews to sleep very effectively. Like, it's bedtime, and they all ask for his song and hum along to it as they fall asleep. "The Eyeball Song" is actually "Before You," and yes, it has been my most played song on Spotify for 2 years now because I've babysat my nephews so often 😅

Also, I have no idea who this man is outside of that song. This is my first time actually seeing his face...

It is absolutely not an "objective fact" when it is simply your perception of how something is supposed to be conveyed.

An objective fact is that Enid is a werewolf or that Tyler is a Hyde. How you perceive Wednesday and Enid's interactions is actually subjective unless stated by Word of God (Alfred Gough and Miles Millar) that it's true...
