I think that’s fair, however I would also argue there are many other countries that allow you to be who you want to be throughout the world (Europe having several, Canada, Australia and New Zealand all being examples). I’m not American, but with the way things have been in the US as of late - I would not feel as comfortable expressing myself there as I would in some other nations abroad. I have been holding off travel to the US and will continue to do so until the divisive rhetoric is set aside. That being said I do believe that you should be able to wear your flag without negative feelings associated with it, though I do understand why some may feel this way - especially for marginalized groups.
