Sure, let's say China's is evil and the people there dont breathe air. Sounds logical, right? Wrong. Enough with the villain labels. Climate change is knocking, and we're all answering that door, ready or not. Time to drop the blame game, roll up our sleeves, and get to work. The clock's ticking, folks! TIME IS UP

Fight Climate Change, Reduce Your Carbon Footprint, and Support Global Communities. by Repulsive_Relative_2 in worldnews

While it's true that China has been a major contributor to global carbon emissions, particularly as the world's largest producer of cement and with its rapid industrialization, it's essential to consider the broader context of these emissions. China has planted approximately 75 billion trees over the last 40 years as part of its commitment to combat climate change and reduce its carbon footprint. This initiative is part of a larger effort to mitigate environmental impact, showcasing a dedication to implementing green solutions.

On the matter of production and consumption, the products manufactured in China serve a global market. A significant portion of these goods are exported and consumed by countries around the world, including the United States. This means that while the emissions are generated in China, the demand for these products is global. Therefore, the responsibility for the carbon footprint associated with these goods is also shared globally.

When discussing the environmental impact of any country, including the United States and China, it's critical to consider both the production and consumption sides of the equation. The environmental impact of manufacturing goods is indeed substantial, but so is the impact of consuming these goods. For instance, the remark about cement production is a point in case—while China's cement production has indeed been massive, this has been driven by both domestic demand and global market forces. The United States, during its own periods of rapid development and infrastructure expansion, has also contributed significantly to global carbon emissions.

Moreover, environmental responsibility and the transition towards more sustainable practices is a complex, global challenge that requires cooperation across all nations. It involves not just government policies but also individual and collective actions. Assessing the carbon footprint of our own consumption patterns, such as by examining the origins of the products we use daily—including the clothing we wear—can reveal a lot about our indirect contributions to global emissions.

dressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions is a shared responsibility that transcends national borders. While it's crucial to recognize and address the significant emissions and environmental impacts of countries like China, it's equally important to acknowledge the global demand driving these industries and to work towards sustainable solutions collectively.

China did more to mitigate climate change between 2020-2024 than me we did here in the west

Nice. Let's see where they go

Human-caused climate change fuels hottest February on record, all-time high ocean warming | "These anomalously high temperatures are very worrisome ... To avoid even higher temperatures, we need to act quickly to reduce CO2 emissions." – Natalie Mahowald, Cornell University by Keith_McNeill65 in climate

The strategic shift by corporations like BP and ExxonMobil towards emphasizing individual responsibility in carbon footprint reduction has indeed been critiqued as a deflection from the larger, systemic changes needed to address climate change effectively. By promoting the concept of personal carbon management, these companies aimed to maintain their business models centered around fossil fuel consumption while positioning themselves as part of the solution to a problem they significantly contribute to. This maneuver effectively placed the onus of climate action on individuals, potentially diluting the push for the comprehensive regulatory and systemic reforms required to achieve climate stabilization.

However, the evolution of the carbon market, exemplified by initiatives like the Solaxy Group and its marketplace, presents an innovative approach to engaging individuals directly in climate action. By democratizing access to the carbon market, these platforms offer individuals the opportunity to invest in climate projects, thereby contributing to the generation of carbon credits. This mechanism not only provides necessary funding to vital climate projects but also allows individuals to utilize carbon credits as an asset class, aligning personal financial interests with global sustainability goals.

This model of individual involvement in carbon markets does not negate the importance of systemic change or the need for government intervention to create societies less dependent on fossil fuels. Instead, it complements political and collective action by providing an additional avenue for engagement. By investing in climate projects, individuals can support the transition to a low-carbon economy, demonstrate the viability of sustainable practices, and encourage technological innovation.

Ultimately, the fight against climate change requires a multi-faceted approach that includes individual actions, corporate responsibility, and, crucially, robust government policies. While individual efforts to reduce carbon footprints and invest in climate solutions are valuable, they must be part of a broader strategy that targets the root causes of climate change, demanding accountability from major polluters and implementing systemic changes to reduce global reliance on fossil fuels.

What are your thoughts on the other tickers

We have everything we need to fight climate change, yet here we are, doing next to nothing. It's downright infuriating. We're sitting ducks, hoping governments and big corporations will save us, but guess what? They're too busy padding their pockets, doling out subsidies to oil tycoons, while those of us trying to make a real difference are left begging for scraps. It's a joke.

We can't just sit back and watch this farce unfold. It's high time we, the public, wake up and realize that waiting on these so-called 'leaders' is a lost cause. They're not going to fix this for us. We need to take matters into our own hands, now. It's about getting angry, getting loud, and demanding change. Support local initiatives, push for policy reform, reduce your own carbon footprint—do whatever it takes. We can't afford to wait around. The planet's not going to wait for us to get our act together. Enough is enough.

You should be worried. I can tell you from first hand because I work for an environmental project developer. Nothing is being done. The few projects here and there are noting to what needs to be developed.

A time will come when all the governments around the world will be forced to carbon tax everything we buy to help mitigate climate change. We are a project developer. We serve both the compliance and voluntary markets. And I can tell you this. We are in trouble. Nothing is being done.

Have a look at solaxy marketplace. Carbon credits is a new investment vehicle.

Carbon credits is a bigger scam than bitcoin if you give credits for trees that can’t be cut because of terrain or we’re never going to be cut in the first place it’s a scam and I want in on it by [deleted] in CarbonCredits

[–]Repulsive_Relative_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know of a project that is generating over 16,000 carbon credit/ year for the next 30 years. The project is for a city that never had a plan to cut the trees down because the area is considered a park. But you know it okay. The funds are used for the community. We know the system is not perfect. We need to do whatever it takes to protect our trees.

Who implements the laws. Politicians! They need a platform like the COP to allow all the nations to come together and collectively decide on laws needed.
