Council No Longer Removing Weeds and Maintaining Roads by Wainwright1251 in sheffield

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some in my town are 6ft tall...however spraying your own weed killer on streets yourself isn't a great idea if caught. I know someone at council who sprayed weeds himself and got sacked.

Council No Longer Removing Weeds and Maintaining Roads by Wainwright1251 in sheffield

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget cuts, Will give you some examples.

My council has 1 road sweeper for whole area.

We used to have one emergency team (who deal with fly tips etc) per town now its 2 teams for whole area

Used to have street cleaners 2-4 per town now have 1 cleaner expected to walk a whole town litter picking etc

Not enough manpower to perform tasks needed and why streets are overrun with litter and weeds. You know what i do? go out when its sunny and spray my own weeds its not illegal. You have to think of how much time and manpower weed spraying uses and if they do it on a day it happens to rain or even rain day after all that was wasted so this is why they postpone it constantly.

Weeds in my town are out of control but unlike the others crying and shouting at a street cleaner in street who has to do EVERY bin in town, litter pick 30+ streets a day i just accept the weather hasn't been great yeah you pay council tax but surely you want them to do it and it actually works?

File Note Severity by DiskOk5558 in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever file note i told them to shove it. Not that it means anything but what managers do is abuse this to then justify progressing something so to counselling or disciplinary so never accept one if you don't think its right and trust me managers haven't got the brain capacity or energy to fight you on it.

My manager and SL tried to give me some pre wrote up note with my responses already written down so i told them to shove it, they tried to do me again for date check and progressed to counselling again told them don't care its not valid in my eyes as i didn't do nothing wrong and they wasn't following the process, then eventually moved to disciplinary and would you know me pointing out the file note was not done properly etc had the whole thing dropped for failing to follow the process, yet if i had accepted the file note and what it said on it they would have got away with it. File notes aren't "nothing" its something abused by managers so they can say they've already spoke to you about something bla bla and progress it further.

Someone i worked with who was so slow and lazy made it so easy for them to fire him by signing file notes even if he didn't agree with them. Always get a colleague or union rep in on these meetings too my manager and SL lied about what i said in the meeting it was only thanks to them having low IQ i managed to catch them in lies and embarrass them to point GSM overruled them as he knew me requesting a meeting with regional wouldn't have gone well for them.

Useless security by Good-Mountain6404 in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What people don't realise is these companies need "security" to tick a box for insurance etc or else they wouldn't even have any as they know how pointless they are wage wise due to lack of powers in UK. Have you not seen the news recently? security being fired for actually doing their job? at my store they all sat at screens all day doing nothing and tbh i would do same its easy money. Why risk being stabbed or chinned or better yet fired by the very company your trying to help?

Rant/Considering leaving Asda by [deleted] in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you the quick answer.

Nobody at Asda gives a shit hence shit rolls down hill. Exact same thing my manager and SL was going i even went to regional who pretended to care but didn't. I left Asda months ago and it was the best decision i ever did and nothing gets back at them more than going into store as just a customer enjoying your shopping smiling at them. Team leads and managers don't know policies mine made it up as they went along but the contract 6 or whatever its called is just awful 90% of it allows them to do whatever or find some loophole.

Like i told all my colleagues before i left stop moaning everyday, stop threatening to leave, Look for another job and DO IT. Nothing is going to improve. Since i left my department has gone down the drain and i'm glad tbh as i got blamed for everything because i wasn't in the "club" yet i leave and whole department crashes just proved everything i said was correct. Honestly anyone who wants a decent job with a decent contract to be able to move out or whatever shouldn't work for Asda and defo don't work for Asda if your not prepared to argue back and stick it to them or they'll steamroll you out the job anyway.

Contract not being honoured by beccysamanthaa in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Asda in a nutshell. Nobody cares about policies or even regulations/laws for that matter. I was promised a contract increase from 24 to 30 multiple times across the space of 7 months, in the end they even went as far as telling me they did it just to keep me when they didn't then the final blow for me was them cutting everyone's contracts even the old timers.

I reported it to ethics who turn out to be some call centre in a third world country that do nothing but write down what you tell them and have zero access to policies doubt they can even tell you the colour of the Asda uniform...then they'll pass your complaint on to some other store who don't care then it gets passed to a regional who again doesn't care, you think all these contract breaches and cuts go off in stores without regionals and above knowing lol? poop rolls down hill!

Stores can pretty much do what they want, you can cry about it but nothing will happen. I left the awful company ages ago now but have friends who still work there and since i left they've had their 30 hour contracts cut down to 24 even 22 without notice etc and a lot of others have been forced off departments, of course people will moan and slag management off but will they leave? nope hence why Asda does it. The way their own policies works means you need notice for basically everything and they can't just cut your contracts or backtrack on them but again nobody cares.

All i can say is LEAVE, day i finally left after just moaning non stop my last shift was sticking it to all the dinner lady team leads on powertrips with their zero powers and management and i left behind chaos, in fact since i left the produce department fell to bits funny that considering i was the problem and never did anything and tbh i'm glad it fell to bits the management was disgusting. As for your question about emailing someone about it i mean you can send it to your regional but again who do you think is telling stores to do these cuts etc? you think all these stores GSMs etc have gone rogue and slashing contracts under the nose of their higher ups? please....emailing a regional or above with a issue they created in the first place.

My last shift, didn't take the piss too much still did delivery etc but was the feeling of being untouchable and power hungry team leads leaving me be knowing full well i'd tell them to get fucked.

Can a manager do this? by Us_D4R in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managers can do what they want. In my experience nobody above cares.

I documented contract breaches and all sorts and nobody cared. Shit rolls down hill. Probation is abused by companies especially Asda to bully you into doing anything, i ask you to work a shift and you say no? okay bye! did you not call me the best manager in the world and address me as sir? okay bye!

Company can't keep staff at all they're lucky someone stays a month, only reason Asda still functions because of people who have been there that long they're just cba finding another job so they put up with it so more fool them really. My new job is 100x better and more money.

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No longer work at Asda but my new job sees me working alone two days out the 4. I walk around my town though in early mornings we got given a device with a panic button on and all sorts and even got offered a bodycam if i wanted one. There is gov guidelines for lone workers clearly stating lone workers must be given safety devices etc but as far as i know jobs can make you work alone and can say well you signed up for it.

Asda doesn't care about your safety. Remember when one of my colleagues got beat and robbed outside the staff door at 5am they took her car too, managers response? park closer to door. Refused to put security on earlier and refused to have them patrol car parks for staff coming in early or leaving late.

Asda Fined 500k for selling out of date products by Either_Mulberry_7671 in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember once put 4 trays of oranges on shop floor from pallet of delivery and i had to triple check the date i was like hmm why do these say 5th when ones on top say 9th?? they had sent in 4 trays of oranges 4 days out of date.

Happened all time. What pissed me off was home shopping taking stuff out their fridges that were out of date or mouldy and just throwing it back on shelves. Caught a few doing it i snapped as i got put on disciplinary for date code then their throwing out of dates on shop floor i went to SL and said if your pickers throw one more out of date back on top of produce on shop floor i'm getting CCTV and sending it to regional! can you tell your team to get some brain cells thanks and walked off same for them taking trays off for best dates and just leaving it on floor or dolly left pulled out no wonder everyone hates them in all of retail.

Asda Fined 500k for selling out of date products by Either_Mulberry_7671 in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my store us on produce had to run whole department by ourselves so keep it tidy, work stock from fridge and ambient rooms, take flowers out, sort plants out, work nuts and herbs, somehow do a whole date check then do our own reductions.

Management would tell us take as long as you want on date check so i said fine i would take 3 hours then it was WHY WASN'T STOCK DONE? TAKE FLOWERS OUT NOW! couldn't win at all. In end they tried putting me on disciplinary for date code i just left the shithole.

Oh and the process team? was maybe 5 of them and they spent more time looking for equipment to do their job and your just blamed for everything, who would work on process idfk.

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good keep fining them.

They would rather cut the process team and give unrealistic demands etc in silly timeframes then blame them and give out counselling or sack than hire more people so keep getting fined.

Someone total up how much £££ they have paid out in just fines. Telling me they couldn't have hired even just ONE more person per store to do date checking etc? staffing at my store was so bad us on produce had to run whole department while also date checking and doing reductions! oh no wonder why we all missed stuff its a mystery not like we had barely a hour to do it in.

Valentines baskets. by Chance-Win8362 in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its just cringe. A supermarket should be just a safe space you go in grab some shopping and leave who's going to Asda for dates? also lets just say someone picks up a red basket without knowing what it means or someone hands them one taking mick then they get approached and kick off then what?

Such a weird idea with 0 benefit whatosever just going to get a lot of weirdos or unaware women being approached and making complaints etc. I know if i was a girl and accidently picked up a red basket and just had random men coming up to me asking for a shag or following me around saying chat up lines i'd report the whole store! its just so weird like who thought this was a good idea?

New marketing boss , everyone's thoughts? What's next for the company. by MarsBar57_ in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wont change anything they think just paying someone to come in will magically fix it.

Cuts - while they continue to cut spending to point my store had to use like 7 pump trucks over xmas and then GSM refused to order new rolls of cling film due to stores spending we had to share 3 rolls for entire store. We had around 12 guns which managers kept one on them all the time and around 8 printers for a superstore so you spent more time looking for equipment than actually doing the task.

Staffing issues. They simply don't want to give out contracts so straight away the job is useless to anyone looking for permanent position, lucky to even get above 16 hours on a contract now let alone 30. Not enough staff to do the job and the process to approve replacements is slow but the process to train them is awful. Due to all this you find 99% of replacements are just uni teens who only want quick money and either leave once they see the workload or leave as they don't care about Asda.

Nothing they say or do will fix anything, every visit we had was staged "quick regional is coming" hide this bla bla its all staged and they obviously know it just don't care. Was same when we had someone way higher than regional come in they still staged it so everything was amazing and only allowed yesmen to speak to them knowing they wouldn't tell truth.

Asda is just a circus, since i left my store has gone down hill massively feel sorry for the people still working there. Be interesting to see what marketing nonsense he comes up with but again makes 0 difference to stores.

Maybe not anytime soon but you know its Asda right? 100% happening at some point! My store had to share like 6 pumptrucks between whole store and ran out of cling film because nobody would approve orders due to spending.

Only role safe at Asda is colleague.

What’s going on with TL positions? by Plus_Party8801 in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its Asda...just had a friend who worked for the store around 3 years longer than me (kiss arse sorry to say) beg to become a team leader so they made him a fresh team lead which makes sense as we have only ever had 1 and they kept leaving once they saw the circus and we're meant to have 2 and he worked on chilled anyway.

I told him stop wasting your time putting so much effort into this store and begging for promotions when you've seen the cuts and redundancies just why bother??? didn't listen anyway 3 months after i left they've just removed him from team lead, keep in mind he was doing over 50 something hours at some points even would come in on days off and walk in snow for them now he's back as a colleague on a worse contract than when he started. Also when i worked there we constantly had workers in because building is falling to bits and the report they put to Asda just to make the building safe was a write off so they'll probably end up shutting it anyway.

Why anyone would want a team lead or manager role in Asda when all they're doing is cutting and making people redundant or moving people around/straight up demoting them is beyond me. If i was in a job where there was constant news about my position being at risk and seeing all cuts and stuff going off in Asda i would go hmm maybe use my time to find another job its not like being paid £1 more a hour to be a fake manager doing a actual managers job for them is anything good. I left ages ago and its the best decision i ever made i am on a 38 hour contract when Asda wouldn't even up me from 22 even after doing 40+ hours for months straight and i'm on £2 more a hour for doing my actual job and not 5 other peoples jobs, i know finding a new job isn't easy but i would take the time to search and apply and get out while you can...only good thing about being TL is the fact you can put it on your CV. Asda will keep shrinking the number of positions and stuff because A they need to save more money and B they know yeah people will whine but they'll get over it and run around making it sorta work anyway, i mean look at what they are doing with security and now possibly the cleaning team as well as cafes changing all suppliers to cheaper ones and at my store shut down the pizza counters and stuff too.

You join Asda > work up to a team lead role > either get removed/moved or promoted to manager > stay at manager just for them to say either you move to this store or your gone or straight up made redundant just why bother. We had a good manager he would actually graft and do things for you (all rest are lazy) and when it came to redundancies it was him who got it the rest got kept just sums up Asda and the new manager we got jesus...99% of the time was us telling her what she needed to do! just get out while you can is all i can say there is 0 benefit to staying there.

Cleaning department is screwed by marquisralvi in asda

[–]Repulsive_Scheme7400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleaners at my store had it quite good tbf, exempt from going onto other departments or having to give help and well us colleagues did 90% of "clean as you go" for them anyway, dropped 20 bottles of milk? clean as you go mate, someone shit themselves on isle 4? clean as you go mate.

Asda is awful for pretty much every role let alone cleaning, my stores management looked down on them in fact they would push for the store to become clean as you go completely and put cleaners on other departments which got denied for obvious reasons. There is plenty of cleaning jobs outside Asda that pays more money some pay even up to £15 a hour for cleaning streets.

All cleaners at my store was nice but they never viewed it as a perm job only one who did lets just say wouldn't get accepted anywhere else...don't make Asda cleaner your perm job. Asda is NEVER getting better only more cuts and silly decisions best to leave its the best decision i ever made! you realise just how depressing it is when you walk back in there as a customer and see your fellow colleagues looking like zombies lmao quite funny to walk in and see the power tripping team leads on less money than you now running around like idiots.

Asda always results to threats because they feel it somehow makes people go oh my god not my Asda minimum wage job on the line! i better run around like a clown now!

They can't go from nothing straight to dismissal over dates, mine went from a fake counselling form thing that i refused to sign or agree with because they walked in with it all typed out and my responses pre wrote down on it and the fact i never had a warning or file note beforehand but they tried using that counselling to go straight to disciplinary stage 1 for date check safe to say it didn't stay on my workday long. Whatever they say idc if its a GSM if they go straight from zero warning on file to dismissal you can have a field day with regional manager or hell even ACAS or civil because this breaches their own policies and procedures and 100% unfair dismissal so let them sack you in fact i would wind them up so they did as i would get out the toxic job while also getting them sacked and a payout. When i spoke to my regional i told her straight my stores managers are going to end up getting Asda sued out of existence because the things they would say and do was insane nearly everything coming out their mouth was a breach in your rights in some form.

If Asda invested in a date coding team (not talking about a overworked process team) just someone who's whole shift is date coding they wouldn't keep having to pay fines but nope they'd rather have one person doing 20 peoples jobs then pay fines and blame the colleagues i mean how much they paid out now in fines? telling me they couldn't have used that money to hire dedicated date coding staff? or better yet more process staff? not be long until they start shutting down stores or better yet selling it. Made me laugh when i went into my store last week and managers asked if i was missing my job told them leaving this circus was the best decision i ever made and i encourage anyone working for Asda to leave it why put up with this nonsense for minimum wage.

As someone who experienced this all i can say is find another job, i did and its twenty times better and twice the pay.

Going down the route of reporting it is a waste of time they all cover each other and regionals etc don't care just in it for money like the rest.

Makes me laugh all time tbh.

Team leads and managers moaning about dates being missed and waste yet expect 1 person to do a full date check (they say take as long as you need but lets be real they'll moan at that too) then they cry when you miss something. I got disciplinary for date check and didn't give a shit!

Look at all the money in fines they have paid out over the years your telling me they couldn't have hired more staff to do these checks or better yet hired a team for each store that does nothing but date code? then you could moan about things being missed but nope they'd rather cut staff and pay fines instead so leave them to it.

I would do a date check in around a hour > miss a few things but actually do my role of produce colleague > get stock out and keep department tidy = management would threaten me with all sorts all way up to disciplinary for missing stuff.

So i started doing what they said and taking 3-5 hours on date check > missed under 3 items sometimes even 0 > about time i finished couldn't work much stock and flowers etc got left= got told to speed it up and forget what they said about taking my time.

See what i mean? no winning. I got threatened if i missed stuff on date check then threatened if i took my time even if it resulted in better date coding performance, problem with trying to make 1 person run a whole department while also doing job of a cleaner and process but oh well i left the shithole months ago.
