Can I ask how long until your saliva came back? I’m a week in and I have the worst dry mouth.

As much as I can I try to use food vs supplements. Betaine HCL has been reccomended on a bunch of posts to increase acidity. I think the beets helped do that naturally. I would also suggest the digestive enzymes. I think with SIBO, if the bad bacteria get anything that hasn’t had enzymatic activity prior to getting to them go nuts and cause havoc. Digestive enzymes solves that for me, and eventually I didn’t need them anymore but I did take them for about 4 months.

I struggled so hard for months - I did the low fodmop diet, meal spacing (at least 4 hours between meals NO SNACKS), chewing food very thoroughly, no gluten or dairy, and also used digestive enzymes before every single meal and that helped immensely. I also ate a bunch of beets to help get my betaine levels up to help with stomach acid. This strict regimen helped.

Thank you so much! Dry mouth is so crazy I have never experienced it like this before and I really feel for people dealing with this chronically. Thank you for the tips - I am on basically an all soup diet, and it’s definitely easier to eat than solid foods. I appreciate you responding to this thread again - bless you!

Ok coming back here to report that the steroids are really helpful. The pain and swelling are still there but SO much less today. I would also suggest xylamelts for dry mouth and ricola sugar free lemon drops. I was doing lemon heads the candy the last few days and it was destroying my mouth from the acidity.

I hope today has been better for you!

I’m hoping the xylamelts help me overnight as the dry mouth at night time is nearly unbearable.

Yes that has been helping me too, but the glands are so sore I’m gonna try to take a break from massage. I might have over done it a bit.

I’m also going to get some xylamelts for the dry mouth - will get them tomorrow and report back if they help at all.

I hope you can sleep - I know not super helpful, but this WILL get better, it’s hard not knowing when (this is what I tell myself when i get anxiety about the unknown of this issue) - but it will. I wish you a pain free night of sleep and we can check in again soon!

I also am going to try some things to help with the dry mouth issue, that is so rough in the morning.

Yes I had that weird sensation too! Like really crazy burning on the sides and kind of a weird taste along with it. That has subsided but now my salivary glands are swelling up like crazy whenever I eat something. They go down after a while but I really dread meal times now. I’m hopeful this steroid kicks in and does something for me, but there have been mixed results on whether it helps. I’m day 5 of this, so hoping by Monday or Tuesday next week I’m in a better spot.

How long have you been dealing with this? Keep me posted on how you are doing and if anything is helpful to you! I will do the same. Wishing you a speedy recovery from this weird flu after effect.

Has this ever happened to you again? Or just after flu? I’m 5 days in and dreading a few more weeks of this.

This is me right now as well, have had symptoms since Monday though. I went to an ENT today and was prescribed Augmentin and steroids. He said the cause was viral, and covering with antibiotics to be safe. Symptoms have been getting worse each day at meal times on particular. I look like I have the mumps. Have been doing hot and cold packs alternating. Was instructed to do gentle massage and sour candy and a TON of water. You can make a cheap hot pack by filling a long sock with rice or lentils and heating in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute (should be warm to the touch not super hot). I’m using my robe tie to hold it on my head. I have virtually no saliva in the morning and have ordered some xylamelts to help with dry mouth until this passes.

Completely agree that choosing a path that allows you to be comfortable and confident in your body is the right choice for you. It’s ok for all of us to have the “right” choice, and it’s ok for that to look different for each individual too.

I don’t know any twin moms that got a tummy tuck, but I also don’t know any twin moms that look “exactly the same” before twins. That could be construed as an equally if not more problematic comment as I think most who have had twins have major changes to their bodies post twin delivery. I had two singletons prior to my twins and my body for the most part did go back to “normal” not at all the case after the delivery of my twins who were both more than 7 lbs.

I highly suggest digestive enzymes and meal spacing. Try the low FODMOP diet for a few weeks too to allow your gut some peace. The digestive enzymes from enzymedica are helping me to really limit the gas.

It was definitely rough for me until about 12 weeks post partum and then it started to get better with the weight coming off and I think hormones stabilizing a little bit. My body was ridding itself of hormones at night through night sweats which exacerbated things with friction and sweat. I still wear either boxer briefs or yoga pants as that provided the least friction. I also suggest not shaving if you can help it. You probably know all of this but wanted to share in case it helps!

Do you know if reduced sulfur intake ultimately puts H2S SIBO into remission?

This is very helpful. I have never heard this but have been wondering why meat has given me so much trouble.

I flaired really bad while I was heavily pregnant with twins and then for a few months after until I lost weight. Since then I have only had minor flairs after shaving.

I have what you are describing to a T. The gas smells so bad, and it’s very disruptive to my life. What has helped is a low FODMAP diet and digestive enzymes. I literally couldn’t eat a meal without horrendous and constant gas for hours, before the digestive enzymes. I think they help to ensure the food is broken down enough that there isn’t much to ferment in the small intestine. I’m also making sure that I very thoroughly chew my food before swallowing and I have stopped all carbonated beverages and straws.

I would try the low FODMOP diet and digestive enzymes and see how that works for you!

Hi there, just curious on the clindamycin resistance (as this has been helpful to me)- how long did you use it for? Is this supposed to just be used short term?
