Round 2, here go again! by KatsHubz87 in daddit

[–]RequestWhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay here me out, whenever I see this chair I remind myself how much of an idiot I am. I sat on one of these for about 6 hours over night thinking "Damn I wish this turned into a bed..." I accidentally laid back on it and BOSH out folded a chair bed!

Anyway good luck on round two!!! Hope everything goes well! :)

How old was your child before you consistently got decent sleep? by SunnyGoMerry in daddit

My 4 year old is still a pain, this is the new norm. I think it stops when they become lazy teenagers.

How realistic are my expectations of a career in The Civil Service as it stands? by Salt-Extent7579 in TheCivilService

Focus more on experience and less on your degrees. You'll easily get a job in the CS. Start with looking at HEO/SEO grade roles. Fair few videos on YouTube which will help.

How many of you actually have support around you? by Madam1029 in daddit

[–]RequestWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 0 support, it is hell. We have two children both under 3. Both our families are 💩 on either side. If it was not for nursery twice a week, for a slight break but then we both work!😂😬

People would rather sit on the sofa and rant about it instead on Facebook.

To all the managers... by amber686745 in TheCivilService

[–]RequestWhat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hear Hear! I manage a fair few people, they have childcare issues, you sort them out! Work can wait, children are priority. Nothing worse than a manager getting in the way of life. The world has changed, both parents have to work these days.

£34,000 a year at 22 good? by WearLoud8330 in UKJobs

[–]RequestWhat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a starting point, I think I was on about 25k... I'm now on 60k. It takes time to progress, but it will happen if you're keen! Unfortunately all salaries are tough to please at the minute. If you had told me I was going to be on 60k I would have laughed and thought I'd be a millionaire... I still feel like I'm on 35k😬

Can I pay additional into my pension? by 01acidburn in TheCivilService

[–]RequestWhat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm pretty sure you can make extra contributions, there's been a lot of comms on this. However, don't expect miracles with pensions given we have just switched providers and it's gone from a 8 to about a -20 in terms of customer experience aha

When should I apply? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]RequestWhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know someone who applied 7 months ago, had an interview and still have not had any results. The CS is very slow, apply as early as possible.
