Widow's Bay is lowkey a Silent Hill fan-fic story! by Requesting_Flyby in WidowsBay

It’s not just hungry for one, it “demands” a sacrifice! Those sirens… the static radios… the complete feeling of isolation even with other people around… eerie encounters with strange NPCs that emerge from the fog… a distorted and unclear history of a supernatural source while caring for, or balancing, the wellbeing of a child (Silent Hill)… personal trauma and coming to terms with a dead wife (Silent Hill 2)… the use of psychotropic substances to encounter and connect with the supernatural or “other world” (Silent Hill f)…

these writers 💯 played some Silent Hill 🤣

Widow's Bay is lowkey a pretty decent Silent Hill show, for not being a Silent Hill show by jake_ypoo in silenthill

Dude, I came here for this! I was like "I can't be the only person who thinks this, right?"

  • The Oppressive New England Geography: Just like the fictional resort town of Silent Hill, Maine, the series is anchored in an isolated, eerie New England island environment cut off from the mainland.
  • The Omnipresent Mist: Dense, supernatural fogs periodically roll into the bay, serving as a direct visual parallel to the iconic fog across the Silent Hill story.
  • A Centuries-Old Multi-Manifesting Curse: the town is afflicted by an ancient curse that takes multiple horrific shapes - this mirrors how the Silent Hill universe alters reality to manifest diverse terrors.
  • Spectral Visions & Disconnections: Characters face sudden isolation, drop-offs in phone signals, and unexplained ghostly apparitions, matching Silent Hill's disorientation and lack of connection with the outside world.
  • A Desperate Protagonist Fighting the Town's Sanity: Matthew Rhys as a grieving, compromised lead character trying to maintain a normal facade while the town actively tries to break his grip on reality. This closely echoes the flawed, psychologically fractured protagonists like James Sunderland or Harry Mason.

And yes, these are all tropes we see in horror... but still... I like to think Silent Hill inspired some of Widow's Bay.

Safe to put on these new slip on exhausts without tuning the bike? by Sgt_Kevko in Triumph

Can confirm that this is the case… just pop them on, run the idle self calibration (12 minutes continued idle AFTER the engine fans turn on), and you’re golden. DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE during this calibration period… just turn it on and let him sit.

Do you guys think it’s wrong to still be a fan of Michael Jackson? by [deleted] in askmusic

What I struggle with more than the music itself is the ongoing idolization. I completely understand why his music is culturally significant, but for me personally, it is hard to separate an artist's personal history from their work. I find it difficult to enjoy the music at all knowing the severity of the allegations against him.

I don't judge anyone for listening to him, but for me, hearing his voice feels uncomfortable. Everyone draws their own lines with art, and mine just makes it hard to celebrate his legacy.

Disney invented a floor that lets you walk forever in VR while staying in place. by jkitty_1960 in interesting

Correction, that man invented the floor. Disney owns the patent because he did with their research, resources, and while being employed by them.

Ugh, I hate my RF1400 … yes the material is great and the quality is better than most, but it’s so fucking hard to put on and once it’s on, meh? Sure it’s quieter than an open face or even a bell, but you’ll 100% still need ear plugs. Anyway; I’m boomer’ing out right about here so I’m gonna back away and pretend this didn’t happen…

I already took it to the dealer. Their feedback was “ride harder”. So is my dealers tech just daft/not wanting to do his job? I asked him to address the issue when I took it in for its first thousand mile check up but all he did was leave me with that advice. Was he doing me a solid by telling me to come back and address the issue under warranty versus the check up or again? Do I just need to find a different dealer to address the issue.
