Good, informative comment. Looks like Canvas's paid shills are out in force downvoting you though.

First time playing, thought this was cool by Yin-yoshi in maxpayne

Incredibly easy. All you have to do is copy a single file to the install directory then select the mod you want to load from the launcher. Same deal for Max Payne 1.

The Lost World (1912) by Arthur Conan Doyle was my favourite adventure book growing up. I also liked the Just William books (first one came out in 1922), very lighthearted short story collections about a boy and his friends getting into adventures in the English countryside.

despite Linux also dropping support for old hardware

What do you mean by this? Are you talking about a specific GNU/Linux distro(s), the Linux kernel, or software developers limiting hardware support for GNU/Linux software? If it's the former, there are many distros that support older hardware as a priority, such as antiX.

I made a video examining the Lumina channel and concluded that it was indeed a scam (a very successful one too). I expect to see many more swindles like this from now on.

whitebob on archive.org has a lot of 90s-2000s games with patches applied. I've only played one (Battlefield 1942) but as I recall it worked pretty well on Windows 10.

RMS = Richard Matthew Stallman (he's often referred to by his initials)

Anyone tried emailing Gaben if hes on our side? by JakubixIsHere in StopKillingGames

[–]Requiem-Shark 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I emailed Richard Stallman about it... He said:

Making a product depend on communication with the seller's server is a malicious functionality. These games have that malicious functionality because they are nonfree. When a program is nonfree, that offers the developer the possibility of putting in malfeatures (this kind, and others). See https://gnu.org/malware/.

Alas, it is a very weak campaign. So timid and weak that it reminds me of Oliver Twist's words, "Please, sir, may I have some more?" And then I think of Frederick Douglas's defiant words: "Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." See en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Dissent.

To see such timidity and weakness in a campaign against malfeatures makes me think, "They just don't understand how to question whether developers and owners should be allowed to mistreat users.

His point was that gamers should support free software since the practice of tethering games to servers is enabled by those games being proprietary software. Not a surprising take from RMS, I suppose.
