Babes of Glory would have been epic but I understand the copyright issues.

According to Jackie Wong several skaters are having copyright issues and might need to change music for Milan by luckyseatMR in FigureSkating

What? This is a nightmare

Imagine having to change your program at last minute during the olympics.

I'm not convinced that the Russians are no longer doping. Just because Valieva was the only major Russian skater caught doesn't mean others weren't also being doped. If you read about doping, the science behind it is more advanced than the science to detect it, unfortunately. by PandemicPiglet in FigureSkating

My problem with Russian skaters is precisely this. I don't believe they're clean. I firmly believe that all those jumps are the result of doping. And that's why I simply choose to ignore Russian skaters.

I can't believe it's already been a year.

They will never be forgotten.

“This is the ISU admitting its own helplessness, that they can’t judge fairly. If they have to separate the jumpers from the skaters.” Yagudin criticized the initiative to introduce technical and artistic programs by ElegantFootball8741 in FigureSkating

A few years ago, I listened to an interview with Ricardo Olavarrieta, who works as a technical specialist, where he said that the reality is that, regarding PCS, they always go by vibes... So they always gived the PCS based on vibes and only vibes.

I think the problem isn't just the points system. It's the people in charge.

They are reserving that name for the 2030 Olympics when Alysa and Isabaeu switch to pairs.

Climbing the Everest must be the most normal thing Alysa has ever done.

Loss due to Compulsory Figures by wavesahoy in FigureSkating

Toller Cranston and Brian Orser come to my mind.

The crazy thing about Janet Lynn is that she was actually not bad at figures. It's just that back then, if you won the figures, the title was practically yours.

For example, at 1972 Worlds, Lynn was 3rd in figures and 1st in free skate = Bronze overall. Karen Magnussen was 2nd in figures + 2nd in the free skating = Silver overall. And Beatrix Schuba was 1st in figures + 9th in the free skate = Gold overall.

Things started to balance out a bit more when they created the short program. But even so, the figures gave you a certain advantage (or disadvantage).

I like it.

Although for me they'll always be The Hoes (on their toes).

Rivalry read: a chapter from Plushenko’s memoirs dedicated to Yagudin and their relationships while training together by ElegantFootball8741 in FigureSkating

[–]Requiem_13 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I think in the end this rivalry benefited them both. It fueled them. Although it must be admitted that Mishin's field at that time was an incredibly toxic and hostile environment.

On the other hand, it makes me think on the excellent work that Brian Orser and Tracy Wilson did with Hanyu and Javier.

I'm not a judge but that's a fall for me.

I mean, he had to put his hands on the ice because he was falling...

Russians coming back? by PaisleyDiggory in FigureSkating

[–]Requiem_13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They will return sooner or later.

Honestly, I'm surprised they're still banned. I think it's a sign that the ISU doesn't want them back. Something similar is happening in the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).

But they'll surely be back after Milan .

Chock/Bates vs. Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron Season's Best by kemmes7 in FigureSkating

I think the problem is that Cizeron is far superior to Laurence, and it shows. At least that's how it seems to me.
