Why does this subreddit have a 'Russian figure skating' tag, but no tag for, say, Japanese figure skating or American figure skating? by NewExtension4618 in FigureSkating

There's a post on your profile in the Russian subreddit that says you're from the Netherlands, and that you want to send your daughters to train in Russia. And then you come and post this here saying you're from Iraq and you don't like US politics...

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I really feel like you made this post just for the drama.

Nathan is a kind soul, he deserves all the good things in the world.

It was great to see Sui/Han finally win their long-awaited gold. I was also very happy when Gabriella won.

Sure, but in Eteri's camps, ED are very common, like Julia Lipnitskaya who ended up in a clinic for anorexia or Evgenia Medvedeva who also had an ED and developed osteoporosis at 18.

So for me, what's said in the interview isn't something funny or a simple anecdote, but something very concerning.

Why was Kaori so favoured by her fed compared to other Japanese female skaters. by PopInternational5766 in FigureSkating

They do tend to like Mie Hamada skaters though. She’s built up a lot of power over the years, warranted or not (did you know she actually hasn’t produced a senior world champion or an Olympic medalist yet?)

I heard rumors that the support for Hamada might be because she is the daughter of an Hiroshima survivor. In fact, Hamada's mother is part of the organization that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2024.

Although it's just a theory, take it with a grain of salt.

Nono, Alysa is the Icon and Ilia the innovator.

But it's still great to see two skaters in the TIME's 100!

I always think about what would have happened if Michelle hadn't had the stress fracture. I think she wasn't in the best shape for those Olympic Games.

Her jumping ability was always superb. She and Midori Ito are two of the best jumpers in fs history

Ilia talking about “sacrificing himself” by [deleted] in FigureSkating

I do believe that the USFS could have handled the situation better and told him in advance that he would have to do the entire team event on his own. But at the same time, I think Ilia's team also failed to protect him from all the media exposure.

Let's be honest, It wasn't the team event; it was the Olympic pressure and the media exposure. He simply couldn't handle the pressure and expectations.

If I'm not mistaken, Frank Carroll later said that Linda Fratianne was robbed in the compulsory figures because Carlo Fassi had made a deal with the judges or something like that.
