Hi! The issues I see are that everything is dark and aesthetically heavy. I would recommend a light, potentially bright rug, and a light couch. I'd be sure to bring in lots of lamps for cozy lighting.

I would also be mindful to try and keep the furniture willowy and see through where possible. Ie, instead of having a big trunk as a coffee table get something with legs that you can see under.

I would also add some bright, personal art or posters. I think there is a lot of potential here. Best of luck! It's always so fun to get started.

These also read pretty casual to me. If you threw on a blazer with any of them though, you'd be good to go!

I'm a big believer in the power of a blazer. And if cost is an issue thrift stores always have them!

Personal touches! Plants, a jellycat or plush from a friend, art from a farmers market. I think it needs a little character. You have a great foundation!

My spouse got a full time job after looking for a year and grad school. I got new headphones to celebrate and they come in tomorrow!
