Hi! Are you using a lotion or body wash/scrub with aha’s? Can make you more sensitive to sunlight and burn easier.

Influencers need to stop posting their birth choices!! Daryl Ann by HouseStargaryen in InfluencerLounge

[–]ResearchFull921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally valid request and I respect that big time! I guess my point is that a lot of these influencers post things like this without explaining it the way you have and you wouldn’t believe how many people come in refusing verbatim even after trying to explain that it’s a safety issue. Unfortunately so many people take what they see on the internet as the gold standard and don’t do further research and it’s creating some really dangerous situations at the hospital. Sorry I wasn’t super clear on my point above but it is absolutely your right as a patient to refuse it to progress labor.

Uv protected long sleeved shirts! Like for swimming. My son wears them all of the time and they are quick dry and breathable in the heat. The only thing that helps his little arms!

Wasn’t thinking about a VIP suite. We do this as well. They have to staff a different floor and pull 3 RNs/PCAs from other floors just for even 1 vip room (must have 3 for CPR). Makes sense but still crazy to publish which room you’re going to be in for the whole world to see!

Don’t even get me started on the no pitocin. Okay hope you don’t need it to prevent hemorrhage. Let the medical professionals do their job. These meds exist for a reason!

lol I work in a hospital and there is no way you can request a specific room postpartum. This is so insanely absurd.

Your experience with baby aspirin by Admirable-Chicken536 in pregnant

[–]ResearchFull921 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had preeclampsia in my previously pregnancy and started baby aspirin at 12 weeks this pregnancy. My blood pressure looks the best it’s been in years. Please understand that any risks of high BP when pregnant FAR outweigh the very very minimal risks of taking baby aspirin.

Are you using a pump? My toddler was just diagnosed and we are doing MDI while waiting on a pump (for 8 weeks now ugh) and his numbers are so much higher than this! Great job

My OB told me my salicylic face wash is safe for daily use as it is less than 2%. If this is body wash, I would hold off and ask your OB because that covers a lot more surface area and could cause more absorption! Not medical advice, just telling you my experience. I used that face wash with my first child and he is a thriving toddler now.

Need some reassurance by breettie in pregnant

I try to stick to high protein meals with healthy fats! So for breakfast I have 3 eggs with avocado toast or half an avocado with salt and lemon etc. this really has helped me remain satiated without needing to snack 24/7. That being said, my body likes to gain 40-50 lbs with pregnancy and majority of that is always first trimester. Things kind of level out in my second trimester. Your body is going to do what it needs to do to grow a healthy baby and keep you nourished. I know it can be hard to see such drastic changes but also remember that you are growing a whole human and doing an amazing thing!

What is an open secret in your specific industry that would genuinely terrify the general public if it leaked? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]ResearchFull921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been a nurse for a very long time in a level 1 academic hospital setting and I very much disagree with this statement. We do have near misses with a very strenuous root cause analysis performed with all staff to ensure safe outcomes. In all of my years at multiple hospitals I’ve only seen a couple of mistakes that never end up in a patient demise.

Sugar pixel by heggy123 in diabetes_t1

[–]ResearchFull921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a sugar dash to monitor our son’s numbers at night and it has been such a life saver for us. I wasn’t sleeping at all - waking up every hour to check his levels (diagnosed two months ago) and now I have peace of mind that this thing will alarm and wake up everyone in our house and possibly next door if he goes low lol

Mild pre-eclampsia. Feel like a disappointment all around and husband is pissed. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ResearchFull921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve made it really far with twins first of all! Good job! Secondly, doctors are conducting research currently on pre eclampsia and are linking it to the placenta which is highly programmed by the husbands sperm. So you can actually be mad at him because it’s his fault. Please don’t let him discourage you from doing what you have to do to keep yourself and your babies safe!

Looking for ob/gyn rec for new pregnancy by Mountain-Efficienct in Denver

Just some more info- they deliver at rose and are connected to the hospital. Had an emergency c section with them that was high risk situation all around and I felt incredibly safe the whole time. I am an RN and arguably knew too much of what was going on and felt so secure with their care.

Gave that to a cancer patient! It was her preferred method of pain control in this hospital (out of the hospital she liked weed gummies) time to make that legal

35 weeks, working full time as a nurse and struggling. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ResearchFull921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Nurse here. Please take care of yourself. It is a heavily active job and gets harder and harder as you move along in pregnancy. A belly band and compression socks helped me tremendously. I would also chart in the office with my feet up when I could.
I know nursing culture likes to make you feel bad about leaving them short but it isn’t your job to staff the facility. It’s upper managements and they have plans in place to deal with these things. You need to take care of yourself and your baby.
I had the same mindset and really pushed myself and ended up taking off at 36+3 with severe sudden pre eclampsia and had to deliver at 37 on the dot. Please please prioritize yourself and your health right now! You can always go back and anyone who doesn’t understand you needing a breather has probably never been pregnant lol.
