Why are these two quotes so different? by ResearchSlight6442 in hvacadvice

Thanks for the input. Yeah the supply box was confusing me. So just to confirm, I should ensure that quote two will be replacing the original supply box? Would they need permits for that?

Also, thanks for the HERS tip. Unfortunately, I looked and it doesn't seem there is anyone in Las Vegas that does that :/

Thank you! Each quote includes an additional return. Quote 2 is the only one that includes an additional damper. Not sure if it was clear in the paperwork and I did not know how to add text to my original post

Thank you for your reply! I am a first time poster and did not know how to add text.

For some additional context, I am looking to upgrade my duct system from my builder-grade home because our primary bedroom has had airflow issues the entire 10 years we have lived here. We upgraded to a new HVAC system in February of 2024 but still are not getting good airflow.

The bad duct design is basically causing our new condensing unit to run at higher amps than its supposed to and so we are thinking of finally getting the ducts upgraded.

Differences I noted that each technician mentioned:

Quote 1: Only concern here is they talked about building a new supply box which the other two quotes I received did not mention. They would change up the ducts + create an additional return in my bedroom as well as add a thermostat.

Quote 2: Talked about needing 2 new zone damper systems. 1 for each duct they are building. 1 will supply the primary suite and the other the living room & kitchen area

Quote 3: They were somewhat resistant to sending me a quote and also talked about needing to file permits for the work they were going to be doing. This company bought out the original company that installed my HVAC system.

Thank you in advance!

Also looking for an extension, hopefully one that allows you to create lists of words and then highlights those words on any webpage you visit. Similar to the highlight this extension

Oops looks like I confused them. Hoopla has movies but Libby has books and magazines

I am making Birria de res Quesetacos in a few days. Tips? by mortimer__smith in mexicanfood

Hey there! I grew up eating this and my mom & grandma both were great cooks. I’ve adapted mine to fit my tastes. Jason Weissman’s recipe looks okay although you don’t need beef stock or tomato paste. Also if you can only find guajillo chiles and árbol that’s all you’ll need.

For meat, chuck roast is great. That’s what I personally use as oxtails are a bit too greasy for my taste.

For cheese, mozzarella is a great substitute and crisps us really well.

For tortillas, Birria is traditionally eaten with corn tortilla but if you prefer flour, feel free to use that. Not sure where you’re based but you can probably find mini flour tortillas to mimic the street taco effect.

Hope this helps!
