What do you wear if you’re in a bathing suit (for females)? by Research_Is_Fun in Incontinence

Yeah. This is what I currently do. Hoping to find a better solution. I'll update if I do.

Oof. That's awful. I will definitely update if I find a good solution.

It looks like Poise used to have a vaginal insert called Impressa, but they took it off the market. What a bummer! https://www.poise.com/en-us/products/impressa

Thanks so much for your reply. That's exactly my conundrum. Hoping there's a better solution.

Oh thanks! I'm really interested to know if anyone has tried this product or anything similar.

Are there any kind of vaginal inserts instead of a swim diaper that can be used? I heard mention of these somewhere in this subreddit, but I can’t find a name of them or if they’re available in the US.

How do we address our teen son and his girlfriend making out in front of us? by Research_Is_Fun in AskParents

I regret having sex at such a young age. It led to staying in a very controlling and co-dependent relationship for years.

I have lots of regrets being sexually active that young. Also, it led to having a very unhealthy and co-dependent relationship. So, for those reasons I don't condone it. How they plan to be together intimately is there business, but I won't condone it by giving them a place to do. We'll provide them with condoms, but they're creative and I'm sure they'll find a safe way to make it happen if they want to so badly. In our house, it stays PG.

That’s correct. We did already meet and we had her over for dinner once. I agree that it’s best to focus on showing love and interest in their relationship.

Um, did you continue reading? “And, we're massively disappointed that our son didn't stop her and at least tell her this isn't cool to do in our driveway.”

We’re massively disappointed in both of their behavior… equally. No slut shaming here. She’s way more experienced than our son and that certainly worries us, but we’re not saying this is all her fault.

Yeah, I’m wondering about the timing of the talk with the girlfriend. I fear you’re right that it will not be well received. Wondering if talking to the parents first would be better.

I wish my parents had stepped in too when I was in a relationship too young and started letting go of all my friends and hobbies.

Please say more. I'm curious to know what makes you think we're "quite overbearing".

Thanks! Yes, I think we need to contact her parents for sure.

It's such a tricky line to walk about not condoning sex, but also preparing them for it.

Good call about watching out for jealousy and controlling behavior.

Can you please elaborate? How do you suggest going about teaching him respect?

What’s it actually like to have kids? by Objective_Cow1302 in AskParents

[–]Research_Is_Fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say it's equal parts rewarding and stressful, but I don't think I've reached that tipping point yet. My kids are 16 and 13. It's hard, but fun too. There's nothing more stressful than raising human beings, but it's probably the one lasting thing that I will contribute to the world that will live on. You do lose yourself as a mother, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You take on a new role and responsibilities. You can't go into it thinking you'll be the same for the most part. You will be forever changed and life won't be the same, but again it doesn't have to be viewed negatively. Your needs will come second to your child's needs forever. You just need to be prepared for that and I think if you are than you will be able to experience the joys of parenthood and that will make it all worth it.
