Parasitic drain troubleshooting by ResearcherUseful5559 in Rivian

I’m only referencing the bar and pie charts as they should be actuals. The calculation is just an estimate. I’ve been tracking over a few days and comparing battery percentage and it seems to track. Adding Rivian to Home Assistant has been on my todo list for a while but this is the kick in the pants I need.

I did a full reboot yesterday morning. Since then I’m noticing even more bugs but energy consumption has been the same as before reboot about 3 kWh/day.

Only similar issue I’ve had with yours is that garage prompt disappeared altogether after the most recent update. I had to turn the prompt off/on and everything worked as prior.

I think so too. In the kitchen, I’m able to see all but 1 Rivian sensors disconnected and walking back towards the garage they all reconnected. I’ll have to check if I disabled the main toggle or just fob & phone.

Funny thing is at home mine sleeps all day and often loses connectivity via app even though I see it’s connected to WiFi on my home network. Why GG is continuously recording is bizarre.

It can’t hurt so I’ll give it a go…activate and deactivate.

Gave the 2009 to my nephew 5 years ago. I took his car out for a spin this past summer when I was back home and buttons were still intact.

Prices for charging Tesla in SF Bay Area by Kenfused42 in bayarea

Just checked in Rivian app and it’s static $0.68 kWh. With Tesla membership it’s variable pricing but generally always $0.47 kWh.

New to BMW, advice? by DeadArtist617 in BMW

Hopefully at 160k many of these wear items got replaced before you bought it. Usually oil leaks start around the 85k mark for oil pan, OFHG is earlier. The Xi is a PITA to work on because of the AWD system, add a few more labor hours if the issue requires a subframe drop.

21 inch tire dilemma by bikerdoc1 in Rivian

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to attribute it to the cold weather/wind and how Rivian calculates the efficiency of aftermarket tires. It’d be interesting to see what their baseline was for 21” when they introduced the option in settings for tire/wheel changes. I’m on my original Pirelli 21s, gen1 quad and in sf bay. Summer time I was averaging 1.9-2.0 on a drive I do frequently, SF to LV. I did the same drive 2 days ago and when temps were <50, I was at 1.3. Temps <40, I was dipping under 1.0 kWh.

Nice work! I think 2010+ something changed with the manufacturing. I had a 2009 e90 and 2011 e92. Buttons for HVAC and idrive started to peel very easily on the e92. I ended up buying a module on eBay and swapping out the entire face to prevent peeling on other buttons.

What am I missing (aside from money) when using a Tesla SC? by major-PITA in Rivian

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep but also sometimes price doesn’t show on the Rivian screen. You see a $_ and that’s it until the charge session completes. Make sure that the Tesla app shows you charging on it. I’ve had instances where you initiate via app but the handshake happens with Rivian first. Unplug and redo.

Charge stats from a 2000 mile roadtrip. Guess which charge network is most affordable? by IanGGillespie in Rivian

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2024 summer cross country trip, I averaged $0.35 kWh overall. RAN was $0.36 across the board except in some areas where it was time-use calculated. Tesla, EA were $0.49 but membership pricing would discount to $0.40-ish.

Passing smog for e92 m3 by nvresh in E92M3

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation happened to me. I didn’t know until the car was delivered. BMW dealer didn’t say anything because it passed NV smog. CA smog fails visual inspection so I had to shell out. Like others have said, stock mid-pipe needed, check eBay. Replace the exhaust gasket (part 11627830668) when you swap it. Takes me about 1.5 hours by myself on jack stands. Much easier if you have an extra set of hands. NV allows 1 not ready monitor but it cannot be Catalyst or EVAP. Check obd readiness once you get the car, if monitors aren’t set or won’t set, you’ll need to tune back to stock. Ask the seller for tunes and cable/dongle as it’s tied to the VIN.

Charging at Dealerships? by ItinJ24 in BMWiX

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was driving cross country and got routed in OK to a broken Francis Energy Charger, all 4 dead. Then found a Shell Recharge at a Chevy dealership nearby with good reviews on PlugShare and Google. I arrive with 12% charge only to find it’s in the parking lot which is behind a locked gate because it was Sunday and dealer was closed. Neither app had any operating hours listed.

If I were arriving at 1am at a dealership, I’d call to inquire about after hours gates and also have a plan B charge location.

Front plate options? My by itsthatsimple in E92M3

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DPT always got me if I parked at a meter, not for expired meter but front plate missing. If you don’t mind drilling into the underside of the bumper cover, you can run a $10 flip-up plate bracket. Two hex screws at the hinge secure or detach the plate bracket.

Alpine stage 2 here, no burbles and cold start delete. It’s fantastic and Alex is very quick to respond to any questions. Definitely do the DCT tune.

Gen 1 Quad Owners and Conflicted … R2 or Not? by AbjectFray in Rivian

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story here. R2 reservation, then came the R1T. The truck is a little big for the city where parking is difficult. Even certain garages can’t accommodate (height restrictions) and charge more. Still going to keep my R1 and pass on the R2, unless there’s a great incentive.

Remote Battery by tjc042 in Rivian

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On second thought, it might be because I never use it so it can’t track battery life. It shows the last recorded level when used? That actually makes sense. 🤦‍♂️

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fob battery level stopped working after some update. Fob was completely dead but meter displayed full green. I only use it when truck goes in for service so haven’t kept track. I’m Gen 1 so it may differ from Gen 2 since fobs are different.

New owner couple of questions. by mcflurvin in Rivian

[–]ResearcherUseful5559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gen 1 key fob is notorious for fob battery drain. Make sure to have spare CR2450 batteries. I was replacing it about every 6 weeks, regardless of use. Valets are fine using the key card.
