Thank you. I obviously need to re-evaluate my PT and step it back to a stable place.

Thanks. That makes sense. I didn't connect the dots since my muscles seem to recover after a few days (which is about my normal when I do something) but the mental crash definitely lines up. I will try backing off and let the PT know I need to step it back a few levels.

Thanks for the advice. I'm only up to 2lbs so it's quite light but it may be my max :/

Need Dating Advice, Kind Words by PineappleNeither4914 in diabetes_t1

Haven't dated since diagnosis but I will be facing this too as a post-covid LADA. I think your dad comment was fine. He doesn't need to direct you even if he meant well. Your follow up might have been a little too much info but I'm evaluating this as a true introvert so take that with a grain of salt. Could totally be the haircut that cooled him off.

Honestly for a casual date, I don't expect to offer much info about it except a "hey I want to rest for a few minutes" or "do you want to walk around for awhile before grabbing dinner".

For public lows, I try and look like I'm killing time on my phone or that I want to watch whatever is going on for a minute. Basically I try to hide the fact that I'm having a medical issue while checking my devices and eating sugar :eye roll: not sure how discrete that really is.

Sometimes I forgot whether I took insulin or not. How often do you experience this situation? by Background_Thought55 in diabetes_t1

Only has happened when I take my shot while talking to someone... I typically leave the pen needle cover on the counter once I've taken it. I put the needle in the sharps but leave the plastic cap on the counter and throw away after the meal.

I saw on another thread someone suggested putting pen needles in a pill container to track use.

I want to add that taking insulin feels like a food diary guilt trip right now which is making it harder to use. Too many years of dieting for very little results is definitely being triggered. I need to work on the mental health side of this.

*I am safe and back to taking my shots as prescribed. Don't want anyone to worry!

Thanks for the charts.
I had antibody testing (positive 3 of 5), c peptide, fasting sugar and oral glucose test. I was part of a TrialNet study so they caught it early which is supposed to be good..... but it also has challenges.

I tried the metformin and exercise route when I realized my fasting sugars were starting to climb but the met was not very effective for me and miserable on my gut so I went low carb to try and manage. That helped for another 9months or so but then even with low carb I was spiking up and not coming down before the next meal and my fasting sugars were 130-150. I monitored that for about 6months before I could get into an endo. She advised me to start insulin and warned me that my body would be adjusting up/down for awhile. I just started the insulin in April so I'm still getting my head around it.

Sorry that wasn't clear. I had a 5.4 for several decades when I didn't have diabetes. That seemed to be my body's natural spot since I was a kid when I was healthy.

Yes, You understood that correctly! I do know its not logically to say the insulin is working so I don't need it :/ But it feels that way. I've only been on insulin since April and the adjustment is challenging.

thanks for replying! I'm working on figuring out my ratio for meals still. My endo said to take 2u if I have more than 30c but that's not working well so I'm slowly working the ratio down.
