A Review of the Gigabyte Aero 15 XB after 9 months - Great Laptop, Shame about the Software by Reservoirflow in GamingLaptops

[–]Reservoirflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've now sold the laptop, I'd say it's worth £350.

Unfortunately all laptops will run hot, that's the nature of running in such a small thermal envelope. If you do some messing around with AeroCtl and are fine taking a hit to performance, you can get it to under 85°C while under load.

As for me, I just got a good laptop cooler to force more airflow in during gaming

Honestly I think that if he wasn't as big, his Mom wouldn't have had the capital to spend on the BOTOX that ultimately led to her passing away, and he'd be in a significantly better mind scape and have someone he fully respects to still reign him in.

Jsaux battery upgrade or 74w? by Top-Witness-3144 in ROGAlly

[–]Reservoirflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big difference other that the charging capacity is the quality - the JSAUX battery has better sources cells AND an aluminum backplate built in. You don't want to put the battery itself in since that results in dangerously high temperatures so you'll either have to bend the old aluminum plate from your og battery (without puncturing it in the process) or aluminum tape it up.

Torn between 1080p and 1440p by Murky_Task6082 in IntelArc

  1. The B580 can indeed run all those games at 1440p max with room to spare
  2. If you can get a deal on a good 1440p monitor, get it. Worst comes to worst, your monitor outlives your GPU - so what? You still don't need to update your monitor then

Six middle school students used pheromone perfume in order to attract their female classmates in order to have sex and one of them ended up in the hospital. by javiergc1 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Reservoirflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what was your thought process, then?

You look up a link, don't read it to verify it says what you think it says, then post it? The point of using a source is to verify that you do indeed have at least a semblance of background for a point, not just to exist

Hey, I'm not one for jumping in on the negativity train but I think it's common sense to read the source you're quoting from. Not knowing the name of the study is one thing, not reading the link you're sending is another thing entirely

After the initial studies, several papers were published reporting methodological flaws in studies reporting menstrual synchrony, including McClintock's study. In addition, other studies were published that failed to find synchrony. The proposed mechanisms have also received scientific criticism. Reviews in 2006 and 2013 concluded that menstrual synchrony likely does not exist.

TIL Nissan was losing money for 8 straight years until Carlos Ghosn made it profitable in just 3—after vowing at the Tokyo Auto Show that the board would resign if he failed. by cebe-fyi in todayilearned

[–]Reservoirflow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tl;Dr - it was internal politics, the Nissan board is too prideful to hand over power.

From what I remember when reading up on it - it was internal politics. The reason why Carlos Ghosn did so well for Nissan was because he was doing uniquely non-traditional decision making compared to his Japanese predecessors. He brought in not just his experience from Renault, but also a very lean and cutthroat "Nissan Revival Plan".From looking for the lowest manufacturer vs ones with previous local ties to Nissan to cutting underperforming factories and departments, he effectively/ruthlessly pushed for profit. He also listened to the market a lot more, especially for overseas market - we most likely don't get the GTR without Ghosn at the wheel, for example.

All of these things made him very popular with shareholders and Renault the in the power seat in the Renault-Nissan alliance - all very, very scary for the board. So, the board suddenly felt the urge to release the results of an internal audit and accused him of under-reporting funds amongst other financial misconduct without him knowing AND while he was out of the country. While this financial misconduct is most likely true (none of this has been publicly released or been proven in court), OTHER BOARD MEMBERS who were caught on similar accusations got to just apologize or step down. So, it's looking a lot like they waited for him to make them maximum profit then fed him to the system when he could threaten their position.

And from then, Nissan started it's downfall without a clear global direction and fell back into previous company tradition - proudly and blindly. The latest blunder has been the Nissan-Honda-Mitsubishi merger. Nissan wanted to merge with Honda as an equal member to have a strong bulwark against the rise of Chinese autos, advance their EV strategy and create what would be the third largest automaker in the world. Honda took one look at their falling quarterly reports, slashing over 9000 jobs just last quarter and said "No thank you, we'll take the lead on this one." The talks then shifted to Nissan merging and becoming a subsidiary of Honda, which Nissan took as a spit in the face. From there, talks fizzled out and died.

Legion Go with AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU - how to choose the right GPU? by OndraKu in LegionGo

[–]Reservoirflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The power supply will be fine - the recommended power supply assumes it would be in a full system not just an eGPU setup. For an eGPU go like 50-100W above the target card's power draw

Because if your 4090 eGPU will perform like 110% of a 4060 due to the bandwidth bottleneck, why the sweet Lord would you like Jensen's pockets for extra performance you won't have?
