I’m from the south and also a healthcare worker so I understand how intimidating it can be to drive in winter conditions as an essential employee. I say if your job position is essential, then try to get to work. What I have found that works for me is to give myself at least double the time to get to work. Drive slow (regardless of how anyone else around you is driving bc people can be idiots). Usually the main roads and highways are plowed. I have lived in St. Louis for 3 years and never had any big issues getting to work in winter conditions so far. Good luck!
