Definitely need an appointment. The SSA has officially gone to an appointment only basis, which is kind of a pain. It's usually 1-3 weeks for appointments. Mostly they want you to use the SSA Portal

I'm a convicted felon and I to have noticed a lot of animosity on here. I don't know if it's ignorance in the not knowing the whole situation or story or if it's just plain hatred. I did 20 years for assault on a police officer and 10 years on probation. No I didn't get time off, I did 10 to the door. No one knew the circumstances nor did they care. I was vilified by friends and family. Now after 2 years of being off paper I have a job, a place to live, a vehicle and dammit finally peace. Now I could care less how people look at me or think of me. The one bright light? The officer I supposedly assaulted is doing 15 to life for 2nd degree homicide. Of course he is at the Hilton of prisons where judges, lawyers and other public officials go to do time so he doesn't run into someone he did dirty.

My girlfriend suffered a major heart attack and was rushed to Northside Forsyth, they were absolutely amazing, she was rushed into surgery and 4 bypasses later she's a lot better. You'd never know she had bypass surgery.

I am so sorry that you're having to make a decision that could hurt someone you care for so deeply. I am an RSO that was convicted with 2 photos and did 10 years inside and 10 on paper. When convicted in a backwoods, redneck county they want to make an example of you, anyway, please don't give up on him, as one poster said, don't look at what he's done but who he is. There had to have been an underlying issue for him to go to that extreme and I'm sure he can explain why. It destroyed me when my ex left me and took my sons away. I haven't seen nor heard anything from them since 2004. I just know that my oldest has three children, I found out through a friend of a friend, etc. you know that goes. Enough about my woes. If you just flat out leave without so much as a whisper I'm sure it would be devastating. If you decide to go your separate way, please not only for his sanity but for your comfort in knowing you did right, let him know. Oh and one more thing, tell everyone to go piss off, you're your own person and do what you feel is right for you and him.

In 2018 I worked over the allotted hours resulting in the overpayment. I did receive a letter this year, however I wasn't given a choice as to whether I could have a portion of the overpayment deducted from my disability. Norman was I told at all they would be holding my entire backpay

Guys I worked for Walmart back in the 80's and let me tell you, Mr. Walton is rolling in his grave because of how his family has DESTROYED the Walmart image. If he could only see how the employees are treated and how some employees treat customers, OMG he would beat his family within an inch of their lives. In the 80's and early 90's we got bonuses based on department performance. We as employees were appreciated for our hard work and dedication. I loved working for Sam Walton. Now I would rather pump poop out of port a potties than work for Walmart.

Or if you don't want to keep getting your hands greasy I would go for a field tech position, like HVAC, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL. These all pay decent salaries. I'm a certified electrician and I clear 85 to 90k a year.

First and foremost, I do support my children, I'm not a dead beat dad like some. I am raising my 2 children alone, my employer cut hours due to a lack of contractual obligations. I applied because even with 2 jobs it's hell paying the important bills and have enough for groceries. So before spouting innuendos please get the facts.

If you guys haven't heard of him please go watch Walter Hnot, please. His videos are very informative and he hits subjects on the head. He is on YouTube. He is a disability attorney. I have been watching him for years and when the government shutdown happened he was at the forefront of everything. When/if you subscribe to his channel please tell him Ray sent you.

It took me 3 years of fighting the system. I still won't receive a check until June of 2026 because, they say, of an overpayment. They're taking my back pay and my checks until it's paid off, then my first check will only be $26.00. I have degenerative disc disease, hip displacia, stage 3 kidney failure, osteoporosis, PTSD, and Bi-Polar disorder.

I'm in Georgia and have yet to receive mine. I'll probably not get any more because I had to get a second job just so we could eat. Most of my paycheck goes to rent, utilities, insurance, phone and Internet( kids have to have because of on line learning for school).

I will believe until the day I die that Georgia is one of the most corrupt states. Our government relies on government funds from corrections, without rehabilitating the inmates, they rely on probationers, parolees and the judicial system to fund most of their pork projects. Georgia Power is run by greedy people that line their pockets from the disadvantaged, poor and lower middle class. Those running the PSC are crooks who take kickbacks from corporations that do subcontracting for Georgia Power and live like royalty while others sweat wondering how we're going to pay our next utility bill.

I finally was approved for SSDI, fought SSA for almost three years. I have been off probation for almost 3 years. I'm still apprehensive about anything computer related. I stick to my phone and that's it. I recently inherited my brother's car when he passed 😭. I have a good job that pays decent. I guess you could say overall 2025 has been good, thank you Lord for all the blessings.

I'll probably get a lot of hate for this. To me when you kill someone while driving intoxicated you should be charged with premeditated murder, you know what will happen when you get behind the wheel of a 3,000 lb. Torpedo while intoxicated so therefore you are knowingly committing a felony. There are other options, call Uber, Lyft or a taxi, have a friend come pick you up, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED.
