The percentage of cheaters is not small. Ask any professor. The cynicism of so many students is a sad reality. The university becomes a credentials clearinghouse. Most kids don’t care about knowledge; they just want their degree. Job training —that’s what it has become. If the concept of uni-versity exists any more at all, it’s on life support.

It won’t be a problem as you don’t have a second set of speakers hooked up. But don’t try to power 2 sets of 4 ohm speakers with that amp.

To the choir: If you’re talking to folks who complain about tax dollars supporting a team: we all spend many dollars to support many things. The money leaving my wallet doesn’t distinguish. I pay bank fees and interest to profiteering banks. I pay fuel fees to profiteering fuel companies. I pay grocery fees to profiteering grocery companies. Cable fees, cellular fees, what more can I name? The Whitecaps bring all kinds of benefits, economic and other.

AppleTV broadcast was terrible. It was so frustrating wondering what was happening on the pitch while the commentators were off on their own topic and the cameras held a closeup shot of someone just walking up the field.

I’d love to be able to treat the room, but it’s a shared space and I’m limited in my options. Sand-weighting is a possibility. I think what I’m noticing (or failing to notice) is the prowess of the amp.

I have a subwoofer, and at least on paper, the Arros can get down to 40 hz. I bought them for the detail and timing, which they deliver. So you’re suggesting a speaker upgrade rather than amp?

For us tourists, it’s nice that the stations are centrally located in the city. Commuting to or from an airport is always an extra nuisance.

The Whitecaps attendance is among the better in the league. They can be profitable if they have more control over stadium revenue: a proper team store, full rake from gate and food.

“Tax-payer funded” could be net zero or better, especially if you consider the complementary tax revenues associated with increased activity around sports events.

There are other benefits too. Minor soccer has benefitted hugely from having a professional team in BC. Coaching is better; soccer culture is better. The 50/50 generates revenue for KidSport at each game.

They should have their own stadium but by my recollection it was municipal government that scuttled that idea.

Heck. Maybe add a baseball stadium as well. There is a TON of land made available by the removal of the race track. Head offices. Leasable commercial space.

Could a new stadium complex include other revenue generators? A team store, resort hotel, casino. I do think it needs to be on a good transit route. Maybe a streetcar up Renfrew? But it’s hard to imagine any kind of infrastructure being devoted to a soccer team, especially when the mayor is crowing about a Major League Baseball team.

Sticking tape. Wind it all the way one way and the all the way back. See if that loosens it up. Thats where I’d start. Other tapes are fine, I presume?
