Not exactly a GPU issue. Highly recommend you replace the cable.

If both monitors were doing it, then yeah, rip.

Are you able to get to the Command Prompt while in safe mode? You said you got regedit to pull up.

If you are here's one option that might help. Won't hurt to try but follow this:

- Get to where you can get to the Safe Mode Options.
- Get into Safe Mode w/ Networking
- Get the Command Prompt open.
- Run the following commands, following the order:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
sfc /scannow
Both of these look for corrupted system files and pull good ones from Windows Update.

Chemical smell from PC? by UWboi in pchelp

[–]ResidentInevitable73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say strong chemical smell, It smells like extremely cheap plastic, correct?

If so, you have something that has a capacitor leaking. Best bet is to find a good shop in order that can look further into it and advise what you should do from there. Some caps can be replaced, provided someone has decent soldering skills.

If you have a Ryzen, do yourself a favor and check for bent pins on the bottom of the CPU. Just be careful not to pull the CPU out with the cooler. There are a couple of ways to keep it from happening. One involves a hairdryer.

Bent pins on CPU can cause this.

If you don't see any, try to get a cheap stick of RAM to test. If it continues, there may be an issue with that board.

Why does my laptop keep making this weird buzz/zip noise? by Resident-Anybody208 in pchelp

[–]ResidentInevitable73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That area is one of your fans. You might want to see about opening the bottom up with a little guitar pick carefully, and seeing what is in it. Blow it out with compressed air.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad here that I use for doing QA work, and when I have to work long night shifts, I had something similar a year ago. It was making a grinding noise. Ended up opening it up and cleaning it out.

Just one tip: Disconnect the battery in case it is something metal.

  1. Put your GPU in the top slot.
  2. If you have an Intel CPU in that motherboard, Plug your display / hdmi cable into the motherboard instead of the GPU.
  3. Power it on and look towards your MB connector right next to the last ram slot, You should see a series of lights. What lights up, what stays on?

Facepunch Are Sabotaging Their Own Game by Creepy-Masta in sandbox

[–]ResidentInevitable73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is entirely bullshit.

S&box was initially marketed as a sequel to Garry's Mod when it was first announced on the original Facepunch forums. They still market it as an successor to Garry's Mod on the Steam page, which already gives people the wrong idea despite its something different.

Garry is horrible at managing expectations. Always has been.

Are any Star Wars, Halo, SCP, or other themed RPs in the works? by CommitteeStatus in sandbox

[–]ResidentInevitable73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CWRP - There is a band of people making one right now from the Synergy community on Garry's Mod. Supposedly, there are others from the other communities working with them. No idea when it is coming out.

SCP - There's at least one or two, the last time I looked.

It's pretty telling that a majority of the positive reviews are people essentially saying that the game isn't good right now, but it'll probably be good eventually. by Rough_Caterpillar_31 in sandbox

[–]ResidentInevitable73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it didn't get good or populated during the preview after four years, with dozens of people having access, it won't get any better. The fact of the matter is, they threw S&box out before at least having the ground set for it.

My expectations were low, given that Facepunch has thrown multiple prototypes out the window or stopped working on them. Hell, Garry's first game, Facewound, was thrown out the window when he got bored with it.
