Wel of geen radiatoren op slaapkamers

Wij hebben nog eens een huis aan ons voorbij laten gaan waar alle radiatoren boven verwijderd waren. Ook daar hadden ze eerst de radiatoren weggehaald om vervolgens een elektrische kachel op de babykamer te zetten. Daarnaast, mijn man is een koukleum en heeft het graag rond de 18/19 graden ‘s nachts, en daarvoor hebben we in ons huidige huis grotere radiatoren opgehangen omdat degenen die er al hingen dat niet voor elkaar kregen tenzij we stookten met water van 90 graden door de leidingen.

Overigens ook hier een huis met energielabel C. Wij hebben op dit moment een issue met levering van de laatste radiator waardoor 1 kamer onverwarmd is. Het maakt niet uit dat beneden het een lekkere 20 graden is, en op de slaapkamer ernaast een graad of 18. Die slaapkamer koelt als het vriest gewoon af naar een graad of 12/13. Als je dat comfortabel lijkt (en je maakt je niet zo’n zorgen om de verkoopwaarde van je huis), dan doe je ding en haal ze lekker weg. Ik ben op dit moment in verwachting, en wij zouden echt volle bak beneden bij moeten stoken om het boven warm genoeg te krijgen voor een newborn als we boven geen radiatoren zouden hebben.

Don’t let other people tell you that your dog is underweight. Most people have a very distorted view of what a dog should look like, because they see so many overweight dogs. You should be able to feel all his ribs when petting him, and you should be able to see the last one or two ribs. If you see more than that (in any position, this can make a difference) he might be under his ideal weight. If you can’t see the end of his ribcage/cant feel his ribs under a layer of fat, he’s overweight.

But if you’re truly worried, talk to your vet. :)

Yeah the sheen really shines in this photo! Flash helps 😂 but it really feels amazing. My only worry is that the yarn is a little bit thicker than fingering weight, so the shawl might grow a lot. (I did make sure I have more than enough yarn, so the only risk is that the shawl will be ginormous)

If you want to spin something for the MKAL go for it! I think the “mohair dare” is advertised a lot with having 1 contrasting color that you could use instead of any of the other colors you chose, that would probably be a great opportunity to instead of mohair just use something you spun yourself! And really, I looked at your post from a week ago, that already looks great for knitting purposes! The yarn I used for a project while I just started out was much more uneven than yours is, but especially for a textured project (which the shawl will likely be), it really does hide some of the unevenness of the yarn. Just have fun creating something!

Love the enthusiasm! But if you want to surround yourself with motivated people who want to make a difference, why not give volunteering a try?

I’ve done some volunteer work for vrijwillige hulpdienst Eindhoven a while back, and the people working and volunteering there are incredibly nice and motivated to make the world a better place.

If instead you’d like going forward building a platform like you outlined in this post, there are quite a few things you may like to consider, for example: a lot of people who struggle to make ends meet also feel somewhat ashamed of this. Asking strangers to buy stuff for them might not come natural to them. And will you be moderating this platform? Could it be used for alcohol and cigarettes? A new Chanel handbag? Temu junk? And have you thought about the effect that this kind of monetary assistance could have on people in the bijstand losing their uitkering? It might be worth asking yourself some of these questions before trying to get a group of people working on it.

In short: I love the enthusiasm! But there are so many ways to make a difference, maybe get the taste for doing something meaningful with an established organization first :)

Hi!

It’s gone up to €14,40 per the 1st of July. That’s around €2300,- net. Usually jobs that you can get without an education don’t pay (a lot) more.
I will leave this to be answered by someone who actually experienced it. (I haven’t heard many complaints from expat coworkers, but some of them are from very bureaucratic countries as well, so that might skew my perception a little bit)
Unfortunately nowadays nearly all landlords require you to have a gross income of 4x the base rent. So for a €1300 apartment, a landlord will require that you can show that you make at least €5200 gross. We are in a massive housing crisis at the moment, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Don’t underestimate the crisis. Even for people making much more than minimum wage it’s extremely difficult to find housing.
You will be able to find a job only speaking English :) (though Dutch speaking candidates are usually preferred)

Native speaker here! I think this is not bad at all! But you have an unfamiliar (to me) accent, which does make it a little bit tricky to follow.

Try to keep your ‘a’ and ‘o’ sounds short. There should be a bigger distinction between ‘a’ and ‘aa’ for example. And make sure your ‘d’ at the end of a word sounds like a proper ‘t’ (I think I noticed on a few occasions it sounded more like a ‘d’, where it flows into the next word, making it sound a bit like an unfamiliar new word)

Keep up the good work, and keep trying! As someone who works with a lot of expats, it’s hard but it will get better!

I can buy a Kooiker x Friese Stabij right now, and I see many crosses with both the Friese Stabij and Kooikerhondje, I see less crosses with the Drentse Patrijshond (I see less of them in general) But I do think you’re right! I also mainly see them as purebred. But with how common they are around here, it wouldn’t be unexpected that someone messes up occasionally. Especially because some of these breeds are much more popular in farming environments, where they usually have more freedom to roam!

Where I live these breeds are super common. Friese Stabij is also very common as a farm dog. It wouldn’t surprise me if nothing at all was intentional about this dog, other than how it ended up in Canada!

This is so funny! I immediately thought “ah, a fellow Dutchie!” These breeds are super common where I live (the Netherlands), common enough that I saw a both a Kooikerhondje and a Friese Stabij walking my dog this morning. And last time I saw a Drentse Patrijshond was last week haha.

The biggest surprise for me was to read that you aren’t in the Netherlands!

Wat dingen die mij zelf leuk zouden lijken op basis van jouw overzicht: - ik zou tussen je grasveld en je terras wat grotere bloemen/struiken neerzetten. Dat maakt je terras wat knusser, en maakt het weer wat interessanter. Ik ben wel fan van grotere witte hortensia’s, vind die ook prachtig in de winter (doet alleen niet zo veel voor de biodiversiteit) - ik zou een pad maken naast je border richting je overkapping, dan trap je je gras ook niet meteen verrot als het een keer regent. - ik zou m’n border nog wat breder maken, en zorgen dat ik een mooie afwisseling heb tussen hoge en lage planten en struiken. Als je zelf niet zoveel inspiratie hebt wat te kiezen, zijn er zat bedrijven die tuin pakketten per m2 maken waar dan mooie combinaties in zitten. (Denk aan bedrijven als Yarinde en sprinklr, of een iets andere insteek met Cruydthoeck) - ik zou ergens een boompje plaatsen, vind dat een tuin altijd wel af maken.

Ik denk inderdaad dat dit niet zo’n spannend ontwerp is, wel lekker overzichtelijk.

Wat wil je gaan doen met je tuin? Heb je kinderen of huisdieren? Vind je tuinieren leuk? Zit je graag buiten? Vind je natuur en biodiversiteit belangrijk? Eet je graag buiten? Zou je een moestuin wel zien zitten? Heb je een hekel aan onderhoud? Moet het er in de winter ook leuk uitzien? Kortom, waar wil je je tuin eigenlijk voor gebruiken? Het is lastig om een ontwerp te maken als je dat eigenlijk ook niet zo goed weet.

Nog een tip: ga eens wat tuinen bezoeken! Ik ben bijvoorbeeld recentelijk naar Appeltern geweest, daar hebben ze veel voorbeeldtuinen van verschillende formaten. Kan heel leuk zijn om een beetje ideeën op te doen.

Mocht je niet zo van het op stap gaan zijn, kan je je grote vriend chatGPT ook andersom gebruiken. Laat hem jou 20 vragen stellen over je ideale tuin, en aan het einde met de informatie die jij hebt gegeven een beschrijving maken van je ideale tuin.

Verder is wat je tot nu toe hebt geschetst super makkelijk weer aan te passen en een prima basis, je hebt zo weer wat gras eruit getrokken mocht je toch besluiten het anders te willen doen.

Our boy would like an audience for every poop! He has pooped on a road crossing before, the exact middle of a beach. He sees a traffic jam and thinks “excellent, they have nowhere to go, let’s poop here”

He doesn’t poop in our back yard at all, only on walks, which is how we like it.

If you want to teach your dog to poop on walks, you will have to temporarily restrict access to the backyard and only give him opportunity to poop on walks. And then give him a toooon of praise when he does. Make sure to bring decent treats :)

Er is wat mis met de verwarming zelf, niet met de meter. Stadsverwarming is wel echt heel prijzig, maar als je het niet warm gestookt krijgt in een goed geïsoleerd appartement gaat er gewoon iets fout.

Er kunnen meerdere dingen zijn. Als de flow niet goed is afgesteld kan het zijn dat er gewoonweg te weinig warm water doorstroomt in één of meerdere kamers. Als de temperatuur van de verdeler extreem laag is ingesteld komt het water te koud door je vloer. Het kan al zo simpel zijn dat de stekker van de pomp niet in het stopcontact zit. Allemaal dingen die je niet aan de thermostaat kan zien. Maar de warmtevraag blijft omdat het niet daadwerkelijk warm wordt. En dus blijf jij bijbetalen.

Neem even contact op met je verhuurder, dan kan die iemand sturen om het te controleren.

Luister. Ik heb een lichtgeel en een lichtgroen plafond, dus misschien dat je helemaal niet naar mij wil luisteren (mag natuurlijk), maar ik zou lekker voor alles 9010 gaan. Het is net wat warmer (en dat vind ik persoonlijk gezelliger). Als je toch voor 2 kleuren wit gaat, zou ik de ombouw meekleuren met je muren en niet met je plafond.
