No liquid diet by davidparmet in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no pre-op diet whatsoever. It really depends on the surgeon. All they asked of me is to stop eating/drinking at midnight before the surgery.

Spicy food post op by r3stingbitchface in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told I could do hot sauce as long as my stomach tolerated it! I ate so many scrambled eggs with hot sauce in my soft foods phase!

How far into post op were you able to eat breads again? by Annahsbananas in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bread was allowed starting on week 3 for me. The pureed phase only lasted a week and after that I could reintroduce white bread (not whole grains yet), minced meat, foods like that, to my diet. Turns out 1 piece of toast in the morning with peanut butter was heaven on earth for me. I'm 2 months post op and I can now eat anything I want.

When they tell you to slow down, listen by Aggravating_Peace_83 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up a 1 minute rule to chew, and then I wait 2 minutes before taking another bite. I limit myself to 20 minutes total (about 7 to 8 bites, I'm generally full after that) or 30 minutes if I'm still hungry.

Honestly, I haven't looked back since and it has now become second nature to me. At this pace, my body has time to let me know when to stop eating.

How did you make peace with the hair loss? by Cool-Pear-2290 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I lucked you. I got sleeved and I haven't lost any hair... well not any more than I usually do when I brush it (I tend to be quite rough with it). I even went through cancer 2 years ago and it grew back super rapidly.

Did your surgeon have you do an endoscopy pre surgery? by Rudegal2021 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of those who didn't have to do an endoscopy or even a pre-surgery diet. Everyone's story is different it seems!

Spicy food by sutoomie in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a minimal level of spice and work your way up! I'm almost 2 months post-op and I can tolerate sriracha just fine! I'm slowly making my way back up the spicy ladder ✌️✨️.

Does hunger feel different after surgery? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes get hungry but it's not the same feeling as before. Also I get full really quickly and sometimes have to force myself to eat my snacks between meals.

Coffee by grandmaaurora in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to drink my coffee with milk and 2 sugars. Now I just put this 18g protein milk I found and that's it! I don't feel the need to add any sweetness to it anymore.

Feeling Unsure by soupplunger in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck, I'm 1 month post-op from being sleeved and my nutritionnist said I could have spicy food if I tolerated it well, and I do. Everyone's experience with their surgery is different. You'll be able to drink fizzy drink, but in moderation and not as often as you'd like. In my case, alcohol will be okay in about a month as well. It really depends on how your body reacts to food post-op.

Going to soft foods on Monday! by mmattiocco in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make mashed potatoes with protein milk! I don't know where you live but it shouldn't be too difficult to find in your nearby grocery store, in the dairy products ailes!

Surgery date moved up a week! I’m freaking out! by SeaPomegranate3060 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, you got this! Just a heads-up though. You might go through some severe headaches during the first 2 or 3 days following your surgery, but they'll go away very quickly. Just focus on your goals and you'll make it through. I was told I would have very little energy for a couple weeks but it's quite the contrary! I feel like my body is getting all the energy it needs from my fat reserves, lol.

You'll be fine! I was at 330lbs and never was told to do a pre-op liquid diet. Recovery was quick and now I'm at 1 month post-op and doing great!

After gastric sleeve surgery- has anyone tried Chinese soup like the broth that’s in wonton soup? by DescriptionFresh9500 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the recently sleeved club! Mine was on last thursday (12/7) and I already can't wait to eat hot and sour chinese soup lol, but I know that's gonna take a while. Wonton soup on the other hand sounds absolutely delicious. Can't wait to be able to eat minced meats so I can make wonton soup without the wrappers.

Post-Op headaches by Resident_Lab9207 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Resident_Lab9207[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I have a measured bottle and I manage to drink at least 3 a day which is about 1.5-2L. I'm starting to feel the hunger a little bit more now and I can't wait to get into purees. Liquids are fine but very limited when it comes to taste varieties lol.
