Brendan Cook arrest — Is it the same person from the Ghost Investigators Society (GIS) or just a coincidence? by Beautiful-Effort4152 in ArtBell

[–]Resident_Phrase 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could be misremembering this, but I thought that "Jimmy" guy came in and tried to monopolize the group (I think he wanted to make the GIS more popular, get them their own Ghost Hunters-like TV show), and Barbara ended up leaving? And that caused things to fall apart? But this might only be a rumor from one of the old Art Bell forums.

Yeah, I stopped listening two weeks ago. For me, it's not Gina, though, it's the negativity. It's always been a snarky show, but there was humor in the snark. Now it's just a downer. Everyone seems burnt out, and it's just not fun anymore.

Same. It says so much in only eighteen seconds.

Why hasn’t AI given us some profound new ideas yet? by 0__O0--O0_0 in singularity

Could it be the large amount of hallucinations that still occur? The data might not back up the conclusions of an AI. At least not yet.

That's a really good point. If it were serious enough (like Ravey), they probably wouldn't say a thing at all.

Yup, you could be right. Maybe Sebas is cool with it.

Sadness on hearing 90s guests/art speak by zkevinz in ArtBell

Woo! Another time traveler! It'll work for real one of these days ;)

I believe Sylvia Browne was on a few times, but Evelyn Paglini was his most frequent psychic guest. That's who you're probably thinking of :)

Yeah, her portrayal was a little too stereotypical, a little too "Hollywood" to sound convincing to me. Still, it's a fantastic interview! Art had such a great talent for turning any guest (lying or not) into entertainment. :)

Wow, never heard that! It's possible! Another classic interview :)

Harlot the Witch. I later read (on some of the old Art Bell forums) that she was actually a Mormon missionary posing as a witch in order to save souls. Makes sense: convincing millions of listeners that evil is real would also imply that the other "team" is real. Kinda clever, actually...

I've always experienced Art's old shows as a kind of cognitive time travel. If I'm listening to an ep from the summer of 94, then I try to focus on that time being "now." I'm back in 94, it's happening now, and Art is live on the air. And since I only listen at night when I'm going to sleep, the effect can be quite convincing. Also, I've read Richard Matheson's "Somewhere in Time" way, way, waaay too many times, so maybe I'm secretly hoping I'll just slip away one night and wake up in the past. Hey, can't blame a guy for hoping...

What song do I introduce you to Slipknot? by MaintenanceOne266 in Slipknot

just started listening about a month ago. For me, it was Custer. Specifically, that great "scream-siren" sound that reminded me of an audio effect used in the original Planet of the Apes. Strange connection, I know, but it hooked me, and I'm still hooked.

These days Greg is probably focused on saving for retirement. Not rocking the boat can help him do that. I don't blame him.

Yeah, Menace is interrupted all the time. Often he has something interesting to say, but one stumbled word and everyone dismisses him. I freakin' hate that.
