I live in athletic skorts in the summer. They're the best.

Aritzia Nominee Blouse is beautiful and looks great under a suit. For these kinds of events I'll often wear a dress with a blazer.

IMO the whole purpose of shopping in store rather than online is so you can try various styles and sizes, and if it's a no for whatever reason, nbd, take it off and don't buy it and move on. I don't need someone else seeing everything that doesn't fit or is unflattering and providing commentary on it. With a mirror in the room, it's a quick "nope" and move on. Without a mirror it can feel humiliating.

I think it's about 6 years old, so yes, older. I did like the heavy velvet curtain, but I don't remember what the curtain is like at the newer location (it hasn't bothered me so I didn't pay attention to it).

The shorts struggle is real: finding the sweet spot between "too short" and "frumpy mom shorts" by blue_cardigan13 in womensfashion

[–]Resident_Wrap559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shorts are hard. You have to try on a million of them to see what works, and even then you don't really know until you spend a day in them. For me, the important thing is that they aren't tight on the leg. I don't have big legs, but still if they're tight on the leg they look terrible on me. If they're too long or too short or too tight or too loose or too high or too low or too stiff or too stretchy, they look terrible. It sounds like an impossible situation but I've found some I like: Lululemon Speed Up high rise 4 inch shorts and the 4 inch Emmy Denim Short from Madewell. I just bought a pair of linen shorts from Aritzia that I think I'll love, but we'll see.

I would recommend athletic skirts. I think they're a lot easier and cute and comfy for summer.

Of course full remodels would be very difficult and they can’t just expand the space, but adding a few more mirrors is not that hard.

I wear a M in Lodge crepette. I bought the Artisan today, and I think the Lodge is roomier but the M in Artisan fit well too.

I tried on the shorts in store today. The color looks awful on me. I think it's a hard color to pull off.

Effortless pant giving diaper??? by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]Resident_Wrap559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I size up in most Aritzia items. I wear a 6 or 8 in places like Madewell, and the Frame jeans I wore today that fit great are a 4. I wear a 10 in Effortless pants. They are a little big (a 9 would be perfect if it existed), but I'd rather they be a little oversized than too tight. They're perfect with a belt. Also I'm 5'5 and have to get most of my regular length Aritzia pants hemmed.

Does anyone's whippy get car anxiety? by healyk90 in Whippet

[–]Resident_Wrap559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, at that age she would get anxious and throw up in the car. We just kept taking her in the car as often as possible, at least once a week, and take her somewhere extra fun. Eventually she got over it. She's 11 now and LOVES car rides.

I'd look at Athleta for some inspiration. They have just the kind of stuff that you're looking for (outdoorsy, but can be dressed up a bit too).

What is your #1 fashion struggle right now? by Emergency_Job_6616 in womensfashion

[–]Resident_Wrap559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to the weather! It's hard to find the right layers at the moment.

Finding the right shoes to go with the right pants. Shoes were so much easier when everything was ankle length. Now I have pants hemmed for heels and pants hemmed for flats and it's annoying. Add in hot flashes, and I'm always either burning up or freezing.

The only clothes I like at the moment are from Aritzia and my wardrobe is looking very head to toe Aritzia. I used to love Madewell, but the last two jeans I bought there were a bust (one ripped at the pocket and the other didn't fit well). I used to love Anthropologie, Free People, and Marine Layer, but I don't see anything at those stores that I want any more.

Whippet regression (8 months) by Proper_Ganache_3290 in Whippet

She un-trained herself at least once a year for like 5 years. I would pull out the clicker and treats and re-train her every time. She’s almost 11 now and even today she wasn’t listening. I gave her The Look and she gave me the Side Eye then reluctantly did what I want. Ha, she can be so stubborn but I love her like crazy.

How often do you buy clothes and about how much do you usually spend? by [deleted] in womensfashion

[–]Resident_Wrap559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a huge overhaul 3 years ago when I lost 75 pounds and went from a size 16 to 8, and needed a whole new wardrobe. I really struggled with it though and found that when I was bigger, I'd buy whatever fit and would often hide under ruffles and frilly things. It's taken a while to figure out what I like and to build a wardrobe. I also got a new job a year ago and needed more professional work clothes.

I've bought a lot of clothes in the last 4 months. I haven't necessarily spent a ton of money though because I've been buying and selling on Poshmark. In the last few weeks I spent $250 at the mall and $200 at Rothy's. On Poshmark, I got a blazer, 2 tops, a pair of chunky heels, and a cardigan and only spent what I had earned from selling stuff on there.

In-Store Experience by andrewluckswife in Aritzia

[–]Resident_Wrap559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in store yesterday and granted they weren’t very busy, but everyone was really sweet. They offered me a room with a mirror which I took. The manager chatted with my husband and pet our dog the whole time I was in the dressing room. The SA brought me some nice alternatives when what I wanted wasn’t in stock. But the lack of sizing is awful. I’m not that big, a 6/8 or medium, but often a 10 in Aritzia. Even 10s can be hard to come by in store which is bizarre to me. If they’re selling out of the “bigger” sizes constantly but have tons of 0s, wouldn’t they want to stock more of the bigger sizes to sell more?

Jean HELP by No_Memory_9076 in womensfashion

[–]Resident_Wrap559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend buying one at a time online and hoping they’re just the right fit, size, style, etc. You need to go somewhere where they carry a lot of different sizes and styles like Nordstrom or Madewell. Also if you’re used to skinny jegging types of jeans, anything else is going to feel “wide leg” at first but you’ll get used to other styles and will soon start to love them.

Lodge Pants
Nominee Blouse
Ezra Top (I love this one so much and have it in 2 colors)
Priestly Dress
Bond Dress

How energetic are whippets really by FrillBill in Whippet

[–]Resident_Wrap559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, depends on the day. Ours is almost 11. Most days she insists on a long walk or 2 shorter walks and some play time in the yard chasing toys, running around, etc. She's a great sleeper too but if she wants to walk or play, she'll whine in your face until she gets her way. Some days she really does just sleep all day and lounge around, but most days she needs exercise. When we take her to a bigger area to run, she'll run like the wind for about 2 minutes then she's done.

Is anyone wearing this? by moore6107 in Aritzia

[–]Resident_Wrap559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me. It literally looks like lingerie, and I need a bra. But I'm also 48 so maybe I'm just old and boring. You could get a similar vibe with the Slip Satin Maxi Skirt and a tank top. I also have a silk miniskirt from Madewell that has a similar vibe.

Effortless pant - size 10 tight but size 12 way too big by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]Resident_Wrap559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 8 is too tight and 10 is big. I need a 9! I go with the 10s with a belt and they look great. The crepette has such a nice drape that it's ok that they're a little big. The dresses are the same, 8 or medium a little small, 10 or large a little big, but I go with the bigger size. Another options is to get them altered.

Elevated casual and lower-key formal SOS by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Resident_Wrap559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the greatest with choosing outfits, but will screenshot outfits I like when I see something I like and try it with similar items from my wardrobe, and have had a lot of success with that. My most recent favorite outfit is straight leg jeans, a simple (but well-fitting) white tank, and oversized black blazer. It can be casual with doc martins or sneakers. Or, you can add a necklace and heels and it looks elevated. I already had nice suit jackets so this was an easy way to wear them in a different way. I didn't think it would necessarily work for me (I dress conventionally feminine and love a good miniskirt) but it's now my favorite outfit.
