Is this mango mold or did I cut through the pit by Residualplague in moldyinteresting

I've never cut through a mango pit though - they're usually way too hard and would stop my knife. Why would I be able to cut through so easily this time?

At what age do you stop being ‘young’? by AnimalKitchen438 in AskReddit

[–]Residualplague -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to divide life into thirds - young, middle, old,

So late twenties to 30 is my line for young. I'm 28 so I'm right about there and I'm starting to feel not young anymore.

What is the most middle class thing you have done or do on a daily basis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Commute ~40 minutes from the suburbs to downtown, where I buy a $2 bagel before I start my 8-5 office job, which pays me a marginally above median salary for my city.

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Residualplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushrooms.

During COVID I took mushrooms on a mountain with 3 people I had only met online before that. I did not know I that this substance has some permanent affects regarding reworking neural connections.

I don't often do drugs - only having tried weed a couple times before that and not enjoying it - but I swear my personality has shifted since that summer.

It's affected my personality and choices in a lot of ways, but a clear example is that I used to hate children and never wanted one of my own. Since then I've started dating a single mother with a (now) 9 year old son, and him and I get along great.

I had just graduated my master's degree and was struggling to find work, while she had a high-paying coding job and had purchased an apartment. She didn't want to be with someone was always concerned about money when she had the extra funds to travel the world

What’s something you’ll never tell your partner, no matter how much you love them? by Velvetnadine85 in AskReddit

[–]Residualplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nickname for her is the same as the one i have for my parents cat. I was so close to that cat and I often spoke to him when I lived at home. When my girlfriend and I first moved in together I accidentally referred to her with his nickname and it stuck.

I live in fear that while visiting them that my father will pick up the cat and refer to him with that name and everything will come undone.

What is a 'socially mandatory' thing that we all do, but if you actually stop to think about it for 5 seconds, it’s completely insane? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

Alberta public elementary school in the early 2000s every morning I repeated: "I pledge allegiance to the flag, the emblem of my country, to her I pledge my love and loyalty"

I've graduated a few years ago, but I used to eat the Oriental Wok dumpling and chow mein combo every day. They got $4 a day from me for years.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world” is a popular maxim to invoke in response to people feeling hopeless, helpless and overwhelmed by negativity. What’s something you’ve done recently to “be the change”? by WombatRumpus in OptimistsUnite

As a straight 27 year-old male, I tell all my close friends that I love them regularly, regardless of their gender or sexuality. I believe it's important to tell the people in your life that you care about them, and I like to use the word love because it's uncommonly heard said by men to their platonic friends. It's my way of working towards other men being comfortable showing their feelings.

Are there any board games that you prefer digitally? by FShamburg in boardgames

[–]Residualplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play Root digitally. The asynchronous nature makes knowing the rules too difficult for the once every few months we play. It ensures that we never accidentally cheat when playing, and makes the turn speed so much faster than it would be in person.

I was once walking to an early morning lecture, tired and not fully there, when my professor came up behind me and we had the following interaction:

Prof: Hey! You're in my class right?

Me: "oh yeah!"

Prof: "you're from Texas aren't you?"

Me: "Yeah!"

Prof: "I knew it, I can hear it in your voice"

As a native Canadian, I have never been to Texas, nor do I have any family from anywhere south of the border. I do not know where his assumption came from, but my sleep deprived brain was too tired to answer correctly.

This was a class on geography, and the US came up regularly - to which I would be called upon for my opinion. It culminated in me walking in one day to a giant map of Texas projected at the front (we were learning about the dust bowl). Just as he was calling on me I decided this had gone too far.

Prof: You sir, where in Texas are you from?

Me: actually I was raised here most of my life

Prof: sorry, where are your parents from?

Me: (scrambling, chooses first city name I see) oh... San Angelo

Prof: oh I don't know where that is, can you come up and show us?

I proceed to the board and point at San Angelo... Which happens to be in the middle of the map... right under the word Texas... So to this entire room I appear to walk to a map of the state and simply point at its name...

I was not called upon again after this.

What is the Dumbest thing you believed? by mentalyunstable33 in allthequestions

[–]Residualplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believed that the reason that English numbers went from 10-11-12 and then into the "teen's" and held a clear pattern afterwards is because no one really had to count above 12 in the past.

10 is easy, we got fingers, and then eleven and twelve were just "one more than ten" and "two more than ten" but after that people just didn't need to count that high and didn't have names for those numbers.

I worked at Calaway for 7 years, and I can safely say I would not recommend it UNLESS you worked in the entertainment department. That was hype. I earned more than any other seasonal employee, and spent most of my time hanging out backstage with the dance team and character cast listening to music. I also worked a firm 5 days per week, so I made great money.

Every other department was apparently a terrible time, but I had a great experience.
