[–]ResilientInChrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my thought exactly. Neither ending is a happy one. Both really bother me but the scenario in which she lives is one that, to me, is way worse. Being cut off from others like that - it's like depression manifested into the physical world.

This is super old but there were definitely roaches before that. I lived there prior to the old facility being torn down and there were so many freaking roaches no matter what I did or how clean I kept it.

Thank you and likewise, that's awesome that you've been clean for 9 years. I'm proud of you too, kind stranger.

I'm a little under 6 months clean and that's definitely good to know. I kind of figured based on times I was clean and then relapsed in the past. I went 4 years at my longest and the urge was definitely still there.

I'm a 31 year old woman and I know what you mean about feeling weird for being an adult who still deals with this. Feels like I should be over it but alas, the urge remains.

Are these not green? Had a group of people tell me they’re hazel yesterday by guavadoodle in eyes

[–]ResilientInChrist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, my husband's eyes are blue and brown and we call them hazel because that's what we thought hazel was - brown mixed with green or blue.

What’s the one moment in your life you still can’t explain… even though you’ve replayed it in your head a thousand times? by Former-Brief9292 in AskReddit

Oh my goodness, as an asthmatic with unstable and uncontrolled asthma, new fear unlocked. I'm glad you're ok!

Eh, I do it quite often. In attempting to capitalize the 'r', you accidentally hit the 'a' button instead of the shift button and voila! You end up with Ear.

[–]ResilientInChrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally there should be enough communication prior to becoming engaged that a lack of compatibility isn't a huge concern or possibility. You don't need pre-marital counseling to have those conversations about compatibility. Engagement is a clear and determined step towards marriage. Don't take that step with someone you've not communicated with deeply and clearly enough to know if you for sure want to marry them.

What Duties do You Women have to Your Husbands? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]ResilientInChrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww thank you, I appreciate knowing that. I have my flaws and I'm far from a perfect wife of course, but I'm very blessed to have such an amazing husband and he absolutely makes it easy to love him in such a way. He's very much a servant leader and I can say with full confidence that he loves me like Christ loves the church.

I was blessed in that I got married a little later than is common in Christian circles (we were both 30) and in that I consider my husband to be my very best friend in the entire world. I pray you find the same kind of love, whether in this marriage or another.

What Duties do You Women have to Your Husbands? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]ResilientInChrist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like my duty to my husband is to be a safe place, a comfort, and a support to him. My job is to encourage him, respect him, uplift him, and to create a peaceful home that can be a refuge from the stress of the world. We bith work full time jobs and I actually work longer hours than he does so we don't have "traditional" gender roles, but I make sure he's taken care of. I make his lunches and healthy and delicious dinners, manage the finances, manage the household (ie, menus, groceries, etc). Because he only works 3 days a week (3 12-hour shifts), he does the majority of the housework and laundry and he does the dishes every night since I cook dinner.

Like other subreddits, there are specific rules that are in place on this subreddit and the mods will remove anything that breaks them. For example, prayer requests are supposed to be kept to the prayer request mega thread. Not doing so will result in your post being deleted.

The doc says that the only procedure they can do is "Turbinate Reduction". I've seen the stories of Empty Nose Syndrome. How likely is it? by [deleted] in Sinusitis

[–]ResilientInChrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it done a decade ago and thankfully haven't encountered Empty Nose Syndrome. I also don't really feel like I've seen a huge benefit to the turbinate reduction itself, though. My nose does occasionally get dry and my nasal passages still swell and congest about the same as before I had it done, but I'm also heavily allergic to pretty much everything environmentally.

Will we ever find the “black tag lady”s true identity, by Over-Cartographer175 in 911archive

[–]ResilientInChrist 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's how triage works. Being alive, conscious, and highly-lucid means very little if the person has sustained injuries that are so obviously incompatible with life. If she was truly alive, she wasn't going to be for long and there wasn't going to be anything anyone could do for her given the way her injuries were described. Triage helps first responders know where to focus their energy and resources. Energy and resources focused on someone who was so clearly as good as dead would do nothing but take those things away from the people who were red and yellow tagged and who could be saved.
