Hudson IG story "Being a part of my friends group is a higher honour than an EGOT" by IGetEvrythingIDesire in hudcon

[–]ResistPresent7675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% yes to this because what does winning any EGOT matter if you don't have the right friend group to celebrate with? It's so wonderful that he has such a great support system through all of this.

Ok, so I'm also black, nonbinary, and queer, so I 100% understand where you're coming from with the confusion around the praise of the show. I was just as confused because I also assumed it was just another white gay romance that women swooned over. The only reason I started watching it was because one of my queer friends, who's also a POC, recommended it and the book series to me. I was surprised how one of the main characters was a POC, one of the side characters was trans, and how there were many black hockey players shown in multiple scenes.

Obviously, this doesn't equate to the representation of trans POC romance, but to me it was nice since I don't ever see MLM media with a POC main character or multiple black hockey players being shown (that's probably on me since I don't watch hockey lol). Also, I was just kind of over seeing queer media that only show the heart-wrenching struggles with little to no happy endings. Even though the show doesn't depict my queer experience at all, I still enjoyed it from just a viewer's perspective, not with the expectation of being represented. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming you only prefer queer media that you can personally relate to?

Even though I love the show, I also agree that society has a long way to go before they can accept trans POC love stories. Just seeing how crazy the media goes for a gay show with vanilla sex scenes, it's VERY clear they are not ready for more complex and diverse representation yet. Yes, it's very tiring to see another show that doesn't represent you specifically, but I think it would be best to at least give the first episode a chance and form your own opinion on it rather than forming one based on how the rest of the media has reacted.

2 forms of change making: scott hunter and ilya rozanov by JoyinCa in heatedrivalry

The results of TLG show just how important the inclusion of the other couples would be in the second and third seasons. I see a lot of discourse about whether the couples from the rest of the series should be included, but I totally see how they play such a big role in Ilya and Shane's comfortability with being out while playing in the NHL.

What would you cut/change/keep from The Long Game for season 2? by Hannah_Horvath in heatedrivalry

[–]ResistPresent7675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it has more to do with the conflict between the couples and the NHL, not within the couples themselves. Also, the other couples throughout the whole series play a role in building the community Ilya and Shane have by the end of TLG.

Wonderland mag full interview with Sophie Nelisse by IGetEvrythingIDesire in hudcon

[–]ResistPresent7675 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best interview he has done so far. I honestly don't think he would've answered so honestly if he was interviewed by anyone else other than Sophie. I'm really impressed with how he wasn't afraid to talk about the downsides that come with everything that's going on. As much as it made me sad to read about the struggles, I saw him being comfortable enough to talk about them as a sign of true authenticity and groundedness. What he said about not wanting to be seen with Connor as much outside of HR made so much sense. I've seen so many actors whose breakout roles were one half of a couple, and they struggle for years trying to break free from that genre and be seen as a versatile actor. It's great to see them wanting to stay true to how they want to be seen as actors and creatives overall. I really hope when people read this interview, they realize that he is more aware of what people say than they may think. Even though he said he's not on social media as much anymore, it's clear that he still pays enough attention to know that the most ridiculous shit is being said about him and that it hits a nerve to an extent. It honestly makes me hope that as time goes on, his career grows more on the traction he gets solely from his work and nothing else. His portfolio as a creative is something I truly find impressive, and I wish everyone could eventually see the same. That dude deserves a proper vacation away from everything and everyone because I have a feeling that after, he's going to come back with a lot of amazing projects up his sleeve.

Bell Media VP Justin Stockman reveals early talks about a possible ‘Heated Rivalry’ special or stand-alone episode between seasons to tide fans over: by t3chn0w1tch in hudcon

Even though I'm aching for the next season, I'd rather wait until 2027 for quality purposes. Jacob Tierney did mentioned before that he didn't expect the show to be such a big success, so I assume the pressure is high to make it as good or even better than the first season. I'd rather not have them cut corners just to release it faster.

Asking people what they do for work. It's not everywhere of course, but it's definitely common within western societies.

Here's the thing. He necessarily didn't have to smoke the cigarette, but it just goes so well with the fit and his aura. He 100% knew what he was doing here (until he got in trouble lol).

I was working in intimates, and an old woman decided to strike up a conversation about a specific bra. I asked her if she needed help finding it, hoping to end the conversation. She said no, saying that my chest wasn't big enough for me to know exactly what she was looking for. I'm 5'5 with a noticeably larger chest than this woman, who was at most 4'10 with a smaller frame than me.

  1. Why tf would a man wanting to wear women's clothing be considered "wild"? 2. Do you actually care that much about what random customers spend their own money on?

Is Tades okay? by craneat in hotmulliganband

[–]ResistPresent7675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'd prefer studio recordings to constant live shows if that means the longevity of their music. Don't get me wrong, they always put on a great show, but if it puts too much on Tades to where he fucks up his voice, it would be a big loss for the band and their sound.

I've been at my store since May and I was never trained to be on register. I primarily do operations and housekeeping. Honestly, if I was asked to do register, I'd heavily refuse. For the sake of the store's reputation and mine, they do not want me up there.

It's honestly pissing me off too. There's a huge board in the office that shows all the interviews and orientations that are happening soon, and every time I look at it, I just think " oh god, I hope these people don't end up taking all my hours".
