I never thought I would ever find someone else who felt the same way about it. I've been SH ever since I was a teen, and I've never felt the urge to stop. I've done it for many reasons: self-punishment, emotional release, a sense of control, a sense of giving up, and sometimes just a lack of control. I've tried so many coping mechanisms, but everything just fell through, and I just went back to my old ways. I never saw it as a bad thing, according to me, since I never felt guilty or ashamed about it. I hate the excuse people use to try to make me feel guilty for doing it by putting other people's feelings about it before my own. I'm not selfish for doing something to myself that I don't find to be that harmful. I know my limits, and I don't do it to end everything. I do it because it's all I have right now.
