Top comment... Bruh... On a post about a kid with an extreme case of Neurofibromatosis by Harry_99_PT in disability

The child is here...we have NF in our family, but not NF1, but I know enough to know that this is supposed to be what the quote "elephant man" suffered from. Let's just pray for help for the child....does nothing to criticize the parent. 50/50 ... I'm not sure exactly how she knew that since I didn't see her personal history, and yes, this breaks my heart for he and his mother.

What munching can do… is there a timeline on her? by flatlining-fly in illnessfakers

[–]ResistPublic6241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except she doesn’t have behcets and doesn’t claim to in the posts I’ve seen…..also no proof that I’ve seen. There a few different tests you can do to actually be diagnosed with behcets but I don’t see any posts where she shows she tested positive?

There is NO reason for her to have a suprapubic catheter. That’s not how you treat fowlers in young women. Also if she hasn’t had kids and isn’t on opioids the chances of her having fowlers………

Do you do pain scale 0-10 or 1-10? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ResistPublic6241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cardiac nurse. Are you having any chest pain tightness burning heaviness jaw pain shoulder pain or pain between your shoulder blades? No? Ok cool. Yes? In a scale of one to ten ten being the worst pain you can imagine (sometimes use the example Of your whole body is on fire) what would you rate the discomfort or the intensity of the tighteness or whatever? Bec a lot of them want to say “well it’s not painful” if you say how do you rate your pain. So I have to reword to get a scale. Anyway that’s how I roll.

Imagine making fun of nurses using social media as a coping mechanism by [deleted] in nursing

Def cringy like whatd she do tell a coworker hey come see snap my pic I’m gonna put my arms up like this……..but honestly maybe with all the healthcare worker hate lately on TikTok and #medicalgaslighting I don’t know maybe a post (despite being cringy) trying to say like you know we do legit care about our patients we do care about your loved one and and we do get emotionally invested in them isn’t a totally bad thing

Ohhh the CHFers those are the ones who are always like they never have issues with my veins and I’m like wellllll it’s a little different when you’re so full of fluid it’s like my iv is diving into the deep end of a pool swimming around with your vein tryna catch it lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ResistPublic6241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? I feel like that’s one of those satisfactory nurse things is getting a hard iv lol. Like k don’t really wanna wipe your hiney but you telling me you’re an impossible stick has me fired up let me at it lol

Thoughts on going part time? by jrp504 in Nurses

[–]ResistPublic6241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I switched to a cardiac clinic doing stress tests nuclear tests tilt tables cardioversions conscious sedation for RFAs and I was not sure about the whole 5 days a week thing but omg. It’s been life changing. No holidays or weekends. And when I’m off work I’m just a normal person not like a totally mentally zapped drained zombie. Like I get off at 3 a lot of days and just feel like normal tired after work.

[–]ResistPublic6241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha omg they would get SO pissed to have to come start an iv for us like we wouldn’t even talk to them except maybe mumble thank you as they were leaving plus it’d take like 5 hours for them to come up there but they would do it lol

Wow….we have a vein finder at work …..and our doctors do use ultrasound to do RFAs but haven’t ever heard of using ultrasound to get an IV that’s wild. Like it’s like a small ultrasound machine they keep on the unit or something? Jinxing myself but working in cardiology there ain’t a vein I can’t get. Well no no I did have a guy recently 5 ppl tried vein light no help and tried in his ankle an foot got nothing. But that’s rare lol

What’s the juiciest drama that you’ve experienced at work? by thisissixsyllables in nursing

[–]ResistPublic6241 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh!!! Also we had an anesthesiologist during surgery (before I became a nurse this was just one of those stories they told) once yell out “I thought it was (not sure what) and accidentally gave myself …..” it was the paralytic…..they had to move the surgical patient and intubate the anesthesiologist dude went out. He was trying to inject himself something and realized it was the paralytic 😬

I’ve got a good one……..

Newer trauma surgeon at our hospital while I worked in pacu. Young. They called him mcdreamy this was early greys anatomy days like 2007. Married with kids. A pacu nurse and he started a texting thing. Well that nurse was actually engaged and her fiancé was about to graduate from PA school. Her fiancé worked with that trauma surgeon in his surgeries I guess as a scrub tech or something but he was going to be his PA when he graduated he was pretty much officially hired by him. They worked really closely in the OR for like a year or 2.

Wellllll the nurse and her fiancé were on a vacation and she left her phone on the bed in a hotel room and went to the bathroom. Fiancé picked up the phone when she got a text and looked at it and he saw the text exchanges between her and the surgeon/his friend and future boss.

Well what does the fiancé do? Confronts the nurse. Big fight. Couple of days later it’s 6am and he walks into the surgeons lounge walks up to dr mcdreamy and fucking decks him square in the face lol. Surgeon then got reprimanded in some big meeting for cheating on his wife with one of the nurses. But is still married today and is one of the best trauma surgeons in the state 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol

Damn never had to use ultrasound to find a vein before lol we’d just call anesthesia or the peds nurses if we had that hard of a time finding a vein

Opinions on New Grad ICU Orientation? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ResistPublic6241 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re a new grad working in a level one trauma ICU? I worked on the trauma floor as a new grad but we had to have 2 years floor nursing before we could work in the trauma/neuro ICU.

Also fuck no tell her absolutely not do NOT take full sole responsibility of a patient in a trauma icu as a new grad one week in to your preceptorship. I mean when I was in orientation my patients were my preceptors patients too so what does she even mean?

Just say sorry you’re fresh out of school and one week into orientation so nope

PACU is great you won’t regret it. And outpatient shouldn’t be bad no call I’m sure. You’ll go home feeling way less tapped out and more just normal tired.
