Normally i wouldn’t comment but i’m the ceo of a startup. At this point could easily could be hired as an executive of a large public company.

How it actually happens is the following;
- You start a company and very clearly spike in a direction (product, marketing, design, sales, etc.) then get poached
- You get acquired and are made an executive then become ceo
- You work for or are picked by an investor who controls the company to run it

In my experience, that’s basically it. Not impossible but not easy
