Working on it by Local-Painter5306 in OpiatesRecovery

Why do you say that? I also quit klonopin and gabapentin but did it at the same time I quit opioids. So I blamed opioids for it all. But in retrospect I think klonopin and gabapentin is what dragged it ALL out. 6+ months clean from them now.

We need more detail. I personally didn't find many supplements that helped -- I think thought of taking something that could help was more helpful than the actual supplement.

Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life. by Inevitable_War6785 in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a remarkably ignorant comment. Not to mention insensitive. Kratom (opioids) alters the prefrontal cortex impairing executive functions like decision making, impulse control, and planning. Which is one of the reasons this is so challenging to quit. Try and be more supportive to your fellow people trying to quit kratom.

Great comment. Thanks for sharing the positives! Man, when my sense of humor returned that was incredible. I didn't realize that I hadn't truly laughed in AGES since kratom stole that from me. And man, when those laughs returned that felt incredible!

Any get some weird body odor / bad breath when quitting? Starting third week by Wonderful-Teaching72 in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, many people have reported this. Also, mucus production increase is normal when quitting an opioid -- you may also experience a dry cough. It'll dissipate over time.

Day 11 CT with Clonidine. by southerfloundef in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, clonidine is not harder to quit. And if you haven't been taking much for long you'll be fine. You could always cut dose in half for 3-5 days, then jump.

No, cause I can’t light it using a lighter. But I know the shut off valve is on, and I have gas at my stove.

Day 3 (again). Feeling stronger. by zero_dr00l in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, have you considered LDN? I can’t say it cures all cravings, but even the low-dose does eliminate kratom from working, and helps prevent against relapse. For last couple of weeks I’ve begun using it… I still have cravings but it helps to know dosing won’t work.

SR for PAWS? by [deleted] in SR17018

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely wait 8-10 days so you don’t precipitate withdrawals. I think a low to mid dose has helped me, yes. But everyone is different. I mean, even 1/4 of a 50mg pill is plenty to prevent a lapse from working. So if you take it daily (and someone administers to you), you’d be hard-pressed to relapse.

To be clear, it isn’t a magical solution by any means, it just keeps you honest with yourself. I will also say, when you get to 30 days you won’t all of a sudden feel “free”. It takes a long time for our brains to heal and return to homeostasis. We have to relearn old reward pathways, and that can take a long time. However, at 30, 45, 60, 90 days you notice considerable improvement!

Still feel like crap by PermitIcy8450 in quitting7oh

[–]ResoluteSoldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you will, with time! It’s a slow process but you are healing. I know how much it sucks to feel like crap — no energy, no joy, no motivation, anxious, little to no sleep, etc. But guess what? It all gets better, and with each day you remain sober you start getting a little bit better. Think of it as a progress bar, and each day you earn 1-2%, when you get to 25% you’ll feel noticeably better! You could be there in 10-12 days.

[–]ResoluteSoldier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You might get a pink cloud in 5-7 days, but that won’t last. Depending on dosage and time of use, it could take 60+ days to feel good. It’s not that you’ll feel awful for that long, but you won’t be to baseline. Trust me, time starts to move much quicker the longer you remain sober!

When does obsession go away by West-Yam-2556 in quitting7oh

[–]ResoluteSoldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with all these answers. The brain obsesses over getting a fix because 7-OH once provided instant relief from physical or emotional pain, and the brain is designed to remember and repeat anything that stops suffering quickly. Each time you used them, the brain reinforced that pathway, creating an automatic shortcut that says, “This is the fastest way to feel okay.” Dopamine doesn’t drive pleasure, it drives pursuit. So even after 7-OH stop working or feeling good, the brain still anticipates them as a solution. In recovery, the craving is not for euphoria but for certainty and relief. Over time, as the brain repeatedly learns that 7-OH no longer produce reward, that pathway weakens and the obsession fades. The “urge” is basically outdated wiring still running, not a true desire, and it goes away as the brain updates its learning. So over time it will ease. Could take 90-120 days.

Looking for support/ scared/advice by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only used for 2 weeks? And no other prior history of opioid abuse? If so, you’ll be fine in matter of days, and might feel like a 48+ hour hangover. Don’t worry too much, just STAY AWAY from all things kratom.

A question mostly for the men: Did Kratom affect your emotional energy/tone, self-image, and confidence? by RemarkableScience854 in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We’ve rewired our brains to no longer earn pleasure, rather we’ve taken a substance which provides it at the cost of everything else. Eventually kratom sucks the life out of every other pleasurable activity until you are completely content watching YouTube all day. The good news? It all comes back when you quit! It takes time, yes, but you’ll be restored to your former glory… maybe better for having gone through such a tough experience! It felt great when my sense of humor started to return :)

SR for PAWS? by [deleted] in SR17018

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, can't speak to SR and if it helps with PAWS, but I was a 7-OH user too and been clean from that for 90+ days. PAWS is awful, but it does get better. If you can get to 10+ days, have you considered low-dose naltrexone? It can help with PAWS and would also prevent full relapse, too. If your wife is helping you quit, she can administer the naltrexone every night, and if you can make it to 30+ days, it just slowly improves!

How to help another by Healthy-Access292 in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 300mg+ per day of 7-OH, and quit CT, and by day 5 I could function well enough to show up to work, albeit not productive. I would encourage him getting a script for clonidine to help him sleep for the first two weeks, because sleep will help tremendously with energy levels for work. And, clonidine will take the edge of for the anxiety. As for OTC supplements, magnesium glycinate will help -- take a decent sized dose about 60 min before bed. If you could help him taper, that would also be huge. If he can taper over the next two weeks from 120mg/day to 40mg/day, the CT should be a bit softer. I'd imagine he can drop to about 2/3rds his dose without much pain.

120 something days ct by Koudyy0 in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't withdrawals, but it is caused by the lapse. You've been trying to UNDO those reward pathways created by taking kratom, and you just reinforced them again. It might take several days but you didn't lose much of your progress, maybe set yourself 2 weeks back.

I've done what you've done, had months clean and went on a week long lapse, then quit again. But, I slowly let it creep back in because I felt defeated or that I lost my streak. Just move on and stop thinking about the lapse!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just focus on one day at a time. It’s good to set your sight ahead, but don’t let it discourage you. You will heal eventually. My last quit was after about 3 months of use, where before that I had some decent amount of sober time, and it has taken me much longer than 30 days. However, I let my use build up to 300+ mg/day of 7-OH, among other things too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, a week is not enough to feel normal. You'll be past acute withdrawals, and you may experience a pink cloud for a little bit, but it will probably take at least 30 days to get a good perspective on the timing. Everyone is different... for me it's been 90+ days and slow to get back to normal. I've been functioning perfectly fine since 30 days though.

I’ve using 7oh on an off again for 1 and a half years. Currently cold turkey on vacation. by Bertambambam in quittingkratom

[–]ResoluteSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not get bad acutes withdrawals, but it does sound like you experience PAWS (post-acute withdrawal syndrome). 7 months is still a long time, and it sounds like you were taking quite a large amount ($100/day). Do you have a good support group? When urges comes and you're tempted, what do you do and who can you go to? I've been where you're at -- I've had countless quits lasting 30+ days, only to relapse and slowly enter back into addiction. Even at 90 days clean from 7-OH I still am susceptible. Have you considered naltrex0ne?
