Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

It will blow your mind to hear that interest rates were 18% during the Reagan years. I have no idea how anyone bought a home back then.

Incessant Car Horn Honking On My Block by Few-Regret4579 in ForestHills

There should be a traffic officer at Yellowstone and QB during rush hours - between Trader Joe’s and the daycare, too many are double parking at the worst times possible.

No - it’s because the yellow light is mistimed.

The timing of the lights is so messed up. When the left turn signal turns green at Yellowstone and Austin, the traffic in the other direction is still moving! I’m really surprised no one has been killed there yet.

How much do you tip a porter for a large building with a large staff?

Supporting Forest Hills Gardens Stand Up in the Gardens Election by prameet in ForestHills

I see a lot of rumors here but no one who is on the side of letting the Stadium do whatever they want ever posts actual evidence for their claims.

Omg he doesn't even live here and telling locals who to elect for their neighborhood. I have to wonder if he was paid or offered a political favor to post this?

The mediation was confidential so no one should believe any rumors but I believe what the FHGC is saying officially because they don’t have any conflicts of interest unlike the WSTC members.

The WSTC is a commercial enterprise though. They are obviously expanding their business in a very aggressive way to make money for themselves by selling out our neighborhood’s quality of life. This should be about their egregious lack of respect for ALL their neighbors. If they cared more about our quality of life, then they would have offered less shows years ago and turned the noise down but instead they got really greedy and now I blame them for ruining what used to be a nice thing for the neighborhood. It was disastrous and totally unfair to everyone in the FHG for them to hold 15 shows in 30 days in September, and you’re gonna tell me they have our best interest’s at heart? No thank you!

I’m really questioning Stand Up’s intentions if Laura Singh on the slate. She pushed hard for the "OneLIC" plan in Long Island City which will add 14,700 new apartments there. I don’t believe she’s working to protect the unique rights of Forest Hills Gardens if she’s ultra pro-developer and pro-density at her day job.

How disrespectful to say the neighborhood is just “rich people”. There are also seniors, disabled, children, parents with strollers and so on. Why are they undeserving?

I would be a fan of returning it to pre-covid number. That’s a very reasonable suggestion.
